So I was trolling and saw this thread which made me want to check my anima. I'm at 90, damn, but I have a strong desire for a nap. Good luck though getting around, you anima users. I feel for ya. You do know we have 2 mounts and airships and a boat right?
The Reason behind my post is that I feel "In my opinion" ( not being selfish as some people call me :/) that Anima is Instant Gratification and ( I'm sorry I didn't mention this in my OP which lead to many confusions) is that If we "instead of Anima" Use a different form of Teleportation: EX: Teleport for WHMs etc) But of Course be something entirely different. Of Course we still want Teles.. hell even I do... but I feel the Anima tend is Overkill imho. Just something different is all I am saying.
As a beginner, I really like the idea of having anima, and using the teleport, etc. Saves me a lot of time, since I don't play all-day, only after work, maybe the weekends.
If anyone dislikes it, there is no need to use it. (First few posts already said this.)

A game is not only the environment, but the structure. Structure in games is about limit management, it's about intelligent handicapping. Intelligent game structure generates codes of behavior. Codified behavior creates coordinated activity and collective, coordinated, harmonic activity = Fun.Yes, and other people have countered BILLIONS of times why anima is fine if you are smart about using it.
If some people want to take short cuts and cheat themselves out of what this game has to offer, that is their prerogative.
Please don't ruin it for the rest of us.
Thank you.
I just think the idea of teleportation or fast traveling is cool, but anima makes no sense. Just place some NPCs transport you for some gil or something like that. Or that Magitek Train xD
Best idea: teleportation as a spell for a class or job.. say.. WHM? Magic is the key. Just away with that anima debug tool.
2.0 will have smaller areas but more variety, I think they have to overthink it anyway.
You can make teleportation or quick travel an atmospheric thing. Thats all I want.

its fun to be herded like sheep instead of playing the way you personally enjoy?A game is not only the environment, but the structure. thats fine and all if you like to be herded like sheep, but me?
i would rather play the way i personally enjoy - using anima (insta port) if I (or who i am grouped up with) is low on gametime and using my mount (time sink) if i (and who i am grouped up with) have plenty of gametime
is everyone going to enjoy playing the way I enjoy?
of course not
but would I demand other players stop playing the way they enjoy when I already have the means to be able to play the way I enjoy?
nope
how does the OP already have the means to be able to play the way they enjoy?
by never using anima while solo and only grouping up with players like themselves who prefer to never use anima, of course...
if the OP can find NO ONE to group up with that prefers to never use anima, well then, the wants of the many outweigh the wants of the few =P

I completely understand that. But there's always a majority, and there's always a minority. I hate to draw in comparison to FFXI, but shoes that would grant you just minimal enhancement in speed would cost millions upon millions and were some of the most commonly desired items. Travel and transportation are two completely different things.I think that when 2.0 comes out and there are several areas, that each area should only have 1 aethryte to port to. It would be kind of like outpost warping from FFXI. They certainly shouldn't get rid of anima or self-teleporting all together though, I don't feel like having to pay a WHM 50k to teleport me 2 zones away from my destination.
I don't disagree with you but it's a flawed argument for an MMO. As party play is a big part of any MMO, people expect others to get to a destination the quickest way. Therefore someone who does not like to teleport because it takes away the traveling aspect is restricted to using a teleporting method, because no one wants to wait for a guy to jump on an airship and chocobo out when he can teleport right to where a dungeon / quest objective is located.
Quite the contrary, I don't believe what I said was a flawed argument for an MMO considering the fact that in a party of 8, the 7 others aren't running on YOUR time. Which is why, you yourself also said "no one wants to wait..." taken slightly out of context but I believe the message is still there and very clear.

Only if within the same petition we can introduce stabbing ourselves in the eyes with pencils everytime we dare to use a chocobo to speed up travel. Hardcore onry!
Also I don't get the whm only travel argument. Why restrict teleporting to whms? It's just annoying and leads to crap like having to do all your traveling on one job, which becomes even more tedious and unneccessary seeing as we can change classes at the drop of a hat.
