Keep in mind I think they don't want it to sound like MCH to any degree. I agree though for a sound confirming your cartridge that's a lil easier to register though.

You can hear how impactful the gunblade trigger is in this short video. The class is amazing, but it needs some more punch to their cartridge combos

So glad to hear i'm not the only one that feels this way. As it is now, the cartridge combo just doesn't feel impactful or explosive at all like in FF8. I really hope this gets changed down the line.
I agree it the swipes sound hollow and tinny.
We were the first to kill Ifrit.
I agree with what someone else said, they sound crisp like clean metal sweeping fast strikes. The explosions feel just right not to make it feel like something else personally.
the high pitch "psew" sfx is kinda weird at first considering you are using a steel sword strapped with explosive button on it, but after a while i can get used to it. i do agree the explosion sound could a bit more "impactful".
but put aside all that, se better fix VIERA VOICE FIRST AND FOREMOST. I CANT HEAR ANYTHING IN BATTLE EVEN THE SKILL SOUND WHEN A VIERA BESIDE ME KEEP GOING "UUUARRRRRGHHH" "aaaAAAAARRRGHHHH" EVERY GODDAMN SECOND!!!
and i tune down the voice volume to the point i almost cant hear my own char voice, yet the viera voice still loud as if its not affected by the volume at all wtf?
Personally, I REALLY like how Solid Barrel sounds. You can hear a click -> compounding sound in the end of it's animation. Everything else just feels smooths and blends together very nicely. It feels fast and I feel like its slices reflect that while still giving enough oomph.
I turned off all my sounds except the SFX so you could hear everything more clearly too. The only thing I'm not liking about this job so far is Brutal Shell is too little and Aurora feels like it should be a higher potency, shorter duration.

EDIT: Idk how to embed videos on forums anymore lol.

Definitely agree with all of this, those would be nice additions. I also think the Solid Barrel combo sounds great, like Valic says. Not going to lie, I'd love to hear more of a gunshot when I fire cartidges from my gunblade. The GNB cartidge combos are nice to press in, but they definitely could use some oomph on delivery. I want to hear that loud crack and whistle after I pull the trigger.
A loading/cocking sound when you gain a charge would also be nice.
My biggest complaint would be just how awful Fated Circle feels/sounds. It doesn't really sound or feel like anything is going on with that ability, which is a pretty stark contrast to the explosive animation. Burst Strike's sound effect could be improved a little bit as well, but I definitely love how it feels like your blade catches on something in the enemy just before that explosion goes off.
It seems like they might've toned them down from the job action trailer, maybe to avoid a repeat of the deafening shriek of Midare Setsugekka. Crisp and clean is fine for the normal skills, but Continuation(which I'm pretty sure is based on Renzokuken, since it translates to "continuous sword", and Squall's gunblade would shriek and roar during that) and anything that uses a cartridge should have some thunder behind it.
They could "buff" the sound effects. Even Redmage or Blackmage sounds provides more WOOMS.
Also... in my opinion the lv80 skill looks horrible. Damn i wield a gunblade and if i use this skill i see a lightsaber. Infight, using this skill within rotations the visuals are a mess.
