Go play Tactics Advance, A-2, FFXII, and Revenant Wings. Viera have never had tails.

I for one am glad there’s no tail. I hate tail clipping.

Read the title... "option" as something optional, you get happy for not having to deal with clipping, i and others also get happy for having a tail. Win win situation.

Not to mention that a lot of armor already got the clipping issue fixed due to Miqo'te and Au Ra having tails.

Options are limited, hence why Au Ra horns are stuck to specific faces. A tail would take ear options away.

Of course a revamp of the whole character creator is long overdue, but it's unlikely this will ever happen.

In none of their iterations have they ever had an actual tail.

Apparently there's some lore that they remove their tails using krakka roots when they reach adulthood, but I don't know how cannon that is.
I am still fine with Viera having no tails though.

I've never heard of that and googling it brings up exactly one search result which is a single comment on Reddit.
I wouldn't put too much trust in that.
