    VI vs VII materia

    Why does the 6 have a greater value than the 7? Is this a bug or what? Did some rule change with how materia is going to be melded or something? The same goes for the gatherer. Is it cause we can't overmeld but once with VIs but there's one restriction of VIIs?

    I suspect it has to do with how far you can meld them ...

    7 replaces 5, and 8 replaces 6, and 7 is specifically for over melding.
    It's so there's less of a gap between the 40 6 gives and the 12 5 gives, but also because there's a massive, massive amount of grade 6 and cracked clusters in circulation and if there was only one new grade mutamix would instantly crash its price.

    It makes sense in its own weird way when you understand the intention behind them.
