You should be able to look at the brightest parts of the game without pain and easily see details in the darkest parts of the game. If you can't then you are using the wrong settings in game or on the monitor.

Well you can always turn down the gamma or lower your brightness on your monitor settings.

A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. What's with islands, get more land. What's with deserts, get less sand.
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
