You don’t use Improv with your other CDs. It’s more of a samurai meditate where you use it during downtime to generate some espirit.

I was concerned with how simple the rotation felt, but when playing it feels fast past and engaging (as long as you get procs.) I’m 66 now from HoH and loving it.

Each time I'm go to execute it, I'm stuck waiting, and it feels bad to wait 2.5 seconds to click a spell which "does" nothing, only to click more spells before clicking another to use it. I would say I could deal with "Technical Step" being a GCD skill because I'm only pressing it every 2 minutes or so. But dealing with the jarring delay of "Standard Step" every 30 seconds is.... well... jarring.
Step potency is based on them locking you out of all other actions. If they were oGCD, Standard Finish would need to deal (0)0 (1)50 (2)300 rather than 500/750/1000, and Technical Finish would need to deal (0,1,2)0 (3)250 (4)500; this is accounting only for average GCD actions, ignoring oGCD attacks. If we were to consider oGCD attacks as well, this would be lower.

I believe they mean making just Standard Step an OGCD. Currently, when it's off cooldown, you need to wait until the GCD rolls off to be able to use it.

When I initially watched DNC videos after the media tour I thought: "Cool, surely the dance moves will be on Cascade, Fountain, Windmill and Bladeshower. Then I can have the single-target and aoe combos on my 1-2-3-4 since obviously those buttons will change into their enhanced counterparts when they proc, right?" Well imagine my surprise when I get my hands on it and they're all separate buttons. The only reason I can see for that is so they can have 8 buttons instead of 4.

I feel like FD3 has little thought going into when to use it, almost always you can just use it right after FD1/2. I wish it was just "your FD1/2 has a chance to do additional potency damage) or something, it feels like a button that isn't necessary to push.

Other than that, liking the class so far, though like others have said AoE range is annoyingly small, while dance range is annoyingly big. I wish there was a toggle, something like "focused dancing" or something where if you push it, it will only hit the target you are targetting or in combat with.

I do have two suggestions for slight i.improvements.

    1. Make "Basic Step" an oGCD. Coming from someone who mained NIN in HWs, dances are very similar to mudras, except that you have to click a skill to activate it. Having that skill on the GCD really kills the overall flow. Each time I'm go to execute it, I'm stuck waiting, and it feels bad to wait 2.5 seconds to click a spell which "does" nothing, only to click more spells before clicking another to use it. 2. "Curing Waltz" needs a change. I like the skill and the overall idea, but the potency + recast make it feel like a gimmick. Now, it might skill much better at end game, which, if that's the case then ignore this issue, but so far even when stacked it is laughably weak. I was in a group in HoH with 3 DNCs. We were all stacked and all used the skill. We recovered maybe 1/2 our health after receiving all 6 heals. I know DNC is not a healer, but the potency and timing need to be changed. Either keep the potency the same and make recast 30 sec so I can feel like I'm adding something over the course of the fight, or double the potency and keep it at 60 sec so it is like a big cool down and feels impactful. Right now it feel like a gimmick added solely for a call back to other games.

Again, overall, great job on the class. 2 thumbs up from me SE!
    100% agree with step.

Another suggestion that I would like to add would be a noise effect when your Feathers reach cap. It’s seeming like it’s more prudent to hoard feathers for Fan Dance spamming during Devilment windows (for bigboi bursting on a single-target) or for AOE in dungeons (they’re really good for AOE), but to make sure you don’t overcap on them by spending one on a Fan Dance if necessary. BRD’s Pitch Perfect makes a sound when it reaches max stacks, so I’d like to see a sound like that for Feathers at max. Just to take my eyes off of my gauges a bit more.

Alternately, show on the actual hotkey how many procs we have built up - there's even a number there, it just forever stays stuck on "1" for some reason lol. I concur that looking at the job gauge constantly is a nuisance, especially given that DNCs will already be eyeballing their hotkeys a fair bit due to how many proc actions the job has in general.

That “1” there I think is just to show that it costs 1 gauge, I think. Kind of strange to add it there, since other things that cost 1 gauge (like SMN/SCH abilities) don’t have it, but I guess they want to differentiate it from FDIII, which is a proc with no gauge cost? Idk lol. But yeah, I agree that a noise indicator would be nice since my eyes are already darting between my crossbar and my feet to make sure I’m not standing in the bad like a lolDNC.

I just put the job gauge above my hotbars near my character where I'm having to look for dodging aoes anyway.
