Yeah just to add to the chorus of angry SCHs, I don't know what they were thinking, if at all, with these changes. Been getting a lot of Sirensong Sea on roulette with the new jobs leveling, and it's SUCH a snoozefest now. My aetherflow just sits there unused about 50-60% of the time. Maybe the expansion dungeons/trials are different, but level 1-70 basic dungeons, trials, etc. just don't need that much healing. With Bane and ED, there was such a nice cycling rhythm of using our stacks offensively or supportively depending on what was going on. I miss that. :C

And as I mentioned in another thread, I truly hate how we can't active Whispering Dawn or Fey Illumination independently of whatever spell we're currently casting anymore. Ugh, it just feels so slow and awkward to play SCH now.

I don't think scholar is trash by any means tbh and I don't think it is unplayable either. Follow up on that we need something akin to thin air cause our spells are way too expensive. Either they need to bring the cost of ours down or balance around that and make whm more expensive. Art of war is decent just over priced. Ours is more expensive than whm and we don't even get a stun.

I love the new SCH. I was never a hardcore SCH main, but I did like the weaving.

In dungeons right now (at level 70), SCH has been: Bio II + Chain Stratagem, Ruin II + Aetherflow, Broil spam. That in itself doesn't seem fun on paper, but there's a bigger focus now on using Ruin II to weave pet abilities and oGCD heals. I love this!

It has a very nice rhythm. The goal is to ride the GCD as hard as possible, and doing that while trying to line up the perfect heal takes a bit of planning, so I feel occupied.

Lucid is on a 60 second CD. It's always available, and I DPS just fine with it.

Honestly I haven't gotten a true test of my dps skills minus fates. The tank I had in my 71 dungeon pulled wall to wall. You said it has rhythm what are you doing with art of war then?

You can do a lot of cool things with SCH right now.

Bio II + Swiftcast, Broil + Chain Stratagem + Aetherflow. This doesn't clip the GCD, and it skips using Ruin II to weave.

For Art of War, I just DoT the enemies as we run, then spam it (even as we run). Art of War targets where you last were, not where you currently are, and lining it up while running to the next pack has been fun for me.

I have a <tt> macro. So, I hit that to target the tank while spamming Art of War, using Lucid when my MP gets low enough (around half), and Lustrate/Excog/Aetherpact the tank as needed.

Shouldn't we all pump the breaks on calling a class good or trash until after hitting max level? Of course SCH is gonna feel the most incomplete after the last patch since so many skills were taken out, but we haven't had a chance to fool around with the lv80 toolkit yet. Not to mention that a majority of players are higher than the average item level for the lv71 dungeon, making it seem even easier than normal. You may get a better grasp of the difficulty for healing in SHB once you reach the lv75 dungeon.

You're wrong. The weak dps kit combined with what has been said here is the problem.

Look at WHM at 70, not only feels complete, it's a monster.

SCH dps rotation will change very little once you reach 80, and that's the problem; the healing aspect of the job is fine, I guess you can make that argument, it's the other glaring issues what make it really bad.

SCH is mostly complete at 70-72. We don't have Seraph, Fey Blessing, Consolation and Recitation, but that's it. These really won't change the playstyle of the class. They give us more things to weave, is all, which I'm excited for. c:

Lucid at 60% seems to be the sweet spot. I'm trying to align it with when I use Bio a second or third time. The trick to managing our MP is managing Lucid's recast, really.

My biggest issue with it are the little things that all add up.

-Aetherflow can't be cast when not in combat, which messes with you if it comes off cooldown between pulls.
-MP management is only okay if you're pure healing, but if you try to weave DPS in any meaningful way you start bleeding the stuff at an almost stupid level.
-Our faeries disappear between dungeon instances, meaning you need to resummon them each time you get into a new dungeon. Inconsequential but just a very 'what' sort of design choice that has me scratching my head.
-The faerie AI also somehow got worse? Like there's a palpable delay to casting that wasn't there a few days ago. I don't even mind the lack of targeted Embrace ability but if they're going to gut the faerie so much it needed better AI to compensate.
-That stupid PULSING GLOWING AETHERFLOW GRAPHIC. I literally threw my aether gauge off to the side of the screen so I wouldn't have to look at it seriously due to the headache it was giving me... The sad thing is that SCH is such a snooze fest now that this lack of direct line of sight to my gauge didn't hinder things in the slightest.

All in all we need Energy Drain back, even without it being a DPs skill and only retaining it's ability to regain MP. We also need the Pet AI to be fixed, Aetherflow castable between fights, and a lot of other tiny things that just get real annoying REAL quickly.
