SCH is trash in its current state

Sorry for the negative title but I don't think I'm exaggerating. What's horrible about scholar:

1. Can't use aetherflow unless engaged in battle.
2. Your rotation is so dull and boring it hurts. At 70 is Bio > Broil for 30 seconds and maybe Art of War if doing a dungeon and dealing with multiple enemies. You only get to have what seems to be a 2nd DoT at 72 in the form of Biolysis and then Broil 3. That still leaves you with a boring, dull rotation.
3. Mana is awful on SCH now, you will run out of mana very often, and there is no more BRD mana regen or Caster mana transfer.
4. If in dungeons, all you do now most of the time is wait for enemies to hit the tank and heal him/her, even though there is plenty of downtime to dps and kill mobs, but if you do it, you will probably run out of mana. The system punishes you for trying to dps with SCH -- I am not sure that WHM has these issues with mana as SCH does btw.
5. Why did Yoshi P and his team decide to get rid of Shadowflare, Bane, and Miasma/Miasma 2? From what I have experienced running dungeons, there is still PLENTY of downtime with bosses to do dmg on the side, even with the bosses using more aoes/etc, demanding more healing. This makes the flow of the fights awkward because you know that you could dps but if you do, your mana will suffer, or you are aware that you don't have the tools you used to have to deal dmg properly.

Please consider restoring some parts of the SCH kit. The most nuanced, fun, flexible healer is a sad shell of his former self in its current condition. It deserves better and the people who played the job certainly didn't ask for it to be this way.

Running 2 dungeons so far as sch, I've hesitated to even begin using my downtime for dps now because I know that I'm gonna be up a creek if I try to contribute to mob pulls and bosses I feel like it doesn't matter remotely anymore whether I dps or not.

I'm keeping my gcd healing on sketch when it comes to keeping the tank up (which I will say they are seeming to take more damage, not counting the idiot blokes who want to pull wall to wall and before even reaching the 2nd or 3rd group are 40% along the way if not 30 then die when they actually begin centering aggro), but man is it boring to even try dpsing anymore.

"Ok, here's your heal. Now what to do if I don't have to dodge aoes...broil spam or cheer jump/wave/on?"

I started doing the solo stuff on my SMN just because it was more entertaining than the SCH rotation, and against single enemies I don't even need to heal since Lily is a heal-spaz now.

Want to chime and say same here.

That said, they do need do seriously deal with these healing values. I can only speak for the level 71 dungeon and overworld/quest mobs, but I still very rarely have to actually use a GCD to heal. Everytime I cast Physick something in the back of my mind reminds me that it’s a complete waste of a cast and MP compared to just using an aetherflow skill or fairy abilities.

I don’t mind that they deleted so much of the DPS kit and honestly I don’t mind if it stays that way. But I do mind that our healing is still so powerful that we have a huge amount of downtime, but no way to contribute other than (still) spamming DPS filler moves

Like why do we even have a healer role if they don’t want to make any sort of involved healing mechanics besides ‘press oGCD’

They gutted healers dps skills but didn't bother to give them something to do during downtime. So long as healing is so easy and predictable, we will be expected to "dps" simply because there is nothing better to do. Unless they made healing itself harder, or gave us something else to do to help the party.

Thank you for contributing to the thread. As a follow-up, I have been playing WHM and the amount of holy spam I can do while running in a dungeon (same gear as my SCH btw) is absurd. WHM has an almost infinite supply of mana to use healing ogcds or just spam holy with gusto and without any concerns.

By the way, Afflatus Solace plus lilies makes sure that I don't even need to use my ogcds while running a dungeon. I ran The Ghymlit Dark using almost no ogcds, save for emergencies. Lilies and Afflatus was more than enough to keep the entire party going, including the tank and tank busters.

Why is WHM literally OP/broken while SCH got trashed so badly?

Do the devs even play their own healers? I have played them all and it's very noticeable how SCH got the short end of the stick with this expansion. I guess it's time to go WHM during ShB.
