Why does SCH still have both pets, if both do the exact same things?

Did I miss something, because from reading the abilities both Eos and Selene do the exact same things.

I also dislike the loss of Selene as a partial buffer for the group, as now every pet ability is your normal boring heal + barrier + damage reduction.

Couldn't cut them out due to lore reasons, I'm guessing.
Would have preferred them to both be even slightly different, but what are ya gonna do at this point?

With a regression in terms of a buffer in Selene/choice which pet to take in favor of Eos's cookie-cutter "heal, shield, mitigate" play?

I did always thought the mitigation spell Eos had fit Selene more - I mean, the fairies could've easily worked as a mini diurnal/nocturnal sect, don't know why they went for the laziest route of outright deleting one of them.

They kept both because they didn't want to change the cutscene when you initially get them. Almost guaranteed.

Or similar to Garuda/Ifrit, with one AoE and one Single Target, but instead of interesting choices, they decided to nuke poor Selene because balance.
