This thread jinxed it.

Congrats on another failed launch of a new expansion. Been trying all day to login and still get 5006 errors.

I'll admit, it been smooth since going live this morning but now we're starting to see the disconnects and long ques happening. It was nice while it lasted though.
"Everyone has something they hold dear, something they never want to lose. That's why they pretend. That's why they hide the truth. And that's why they lie."
Been off and on since it launched, no problems until now. But I'm off to work so I'm sure it'll be good when I get back home
Pretty sure it was inevitable that the servers couldn't handle the rush from the rest of people not taking the day off/working/at school.
Can't believe people were joining in on congratulating them lol, it's probably only a short time till there's a day long maint even to break up early access.

Sorry to hear you guys are having issues. Still, I don't care what you all say. It was still the SMOOTHEST launch I have ever had. I played for a solid 6 hours with no interruptions. Have gotten back in and out a few times (even with the Auto AFK disconnect) and am currently sitting in a queue waiting to get in with no problems. Of course there were bound to be problems when MORE people get on. But that isn't what I was congratulating them on. I was stating that the LAUNCH was smooth. There were no disconnects, no errors, no extended wait times, the quests were fine, the servers were handling everything fine. How many times has that happened in ANY MMO at launch in the last 15 years? I can't think of any.
Also the comment about "Why congratulate corporations?" Well because they worked hard for this, they heard their players complain time and time again about how horrible other launches were both in this game and others, they took the initiative and actually had a solid launch. If we encourage that by offering our appreciation, maybe, just maybe, they will continue to appreciate us and maintain a beautiful game instead of seeing us all as incessant whiners complaining about everything and decide to turn this game into a true WoW 2.0.
So I for one say to keep congratulating. Every road has bumps but I can almost guarantee they are working harder than any to pave it straight and deliver a grand experience for us all.

This was by far the smoothest patch launch. It has been amazing. Seems like people were so quick to forget that even before prime time, the queue to get into Stormblood was around 4-5 hours long. Today, I got into BALMUNG in about 10 seconds in my queue of 20 people.
Sure, the servers went down due to DDoS, but that's outside of SE's control and they fixed it quite promptly. They were down and up again within the time it took me to go grab some lunch and groceries.
Good on SE for learning from the horrible mistakes of Stormblood's launch.

Honestly i wasnt expecting it to go this smoothly
The current d/cing issues are officially due to DDOS attacks (in case no one has posted about it yet) https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...156.1539703355
So yeah the launch itself was great, and Squeenix did a great job with it. Buuuut there will always be people trying to ruin it for everyone else.
