Can confirm this worked for me too.i found a small solution. works for me.
Need a second monitor or a tv for do.
I have a MSI with 120hz screen and a second monitor with 60hz...
I put for open the game with directx 9 and in the Menu of the game (before choose the character) and in the menu i select the second monitor for open the game. (need restart the game for apply).
So, in login i choose directx 11 and the game works.
Later in the menu i choose Window mode, i move the window of the second monitor for first monitor and put borderless window. and now is running fine in the first monitor.
I dont know whats happen if i take off the hdmi cable of second monitor.
I switched from my laptop monitor to my extended display and was able to boot it up in DX11
Laptop users...
I followed this guide on reddit step by step and it worked for my laptop, playing in dx11 now, was forced to play in dx9 yesterday before I found this fix. Hope it helps someone else.

Just logged in to say that I am in the same boat.
I dont have access to an external monitor.
also im not wanting to download anything to force my laptop to do something it wasnt built to do.
Appreciate you found a fix and glad other people can use a temp fix but its not for me.
Im just gonna use Directx 9, and not play the new Areas![]()
Was extremely disappointed that this was not added to the list of known issues since it's made the game literally unplayable.
Did we learn anything new? Is it only affecting people with newer Nvidia GPUs?
Not just nVidia a couple of Radeon users as well, and also not strictly limited to laptops though it does seem to be a lot of people with newer laptops being affected, especially with fixed high refresh rate monitors.
I was just under the assumption that a lot of people who play this game do so on a laptop, tbh. I'm certain it's just an incompatibility with newer hardware past a certain generation. The only workaround i've been able to do is to just play my PS4 version, which is not really preferable with the choppy performance.
Thank you ^-^ Guys i think SE dont react to this we need to find our own solution for this. So just test it if you cant play dont wait for them you will just earn unhappiness. So i post a Comment in insta that they should look it up and the only respons what i get from someone Else that his whole fc have no Probs and we should look up at our drivers. So Yeah my respons was that he should look into the english Support Forum.Laptop users...

Imagine releasing a benchmark that's an indicator of how your PC will run on launch and then changing a setting with zero notice that cripples the entire platform.
Well done SE.
I'm not destroying my new laptop with workarounds that are iffy or present some risk. I can play in dx9 it's not ideal, but it'll do for now, if at any time I can't play in that version then I will consider other methods.Thank you ^-^ Guys i think SE dont react to this we need to find our own solution for this. Even DX9 is unstable. It crashed in half an hour for me.
