Rejoining souls also seems to be a deliberate process outside of a dimensional rejoining, so I don't think there's any danger of G'raha Exarch accidentally absorbing G'raha Tia's ninth soul-shard... unless you're suggesting that might be something they want to do? (It's not like we intend to allow the Rejoining that would return it to him, right...?)

Maybe this is how they're going to get Exarch G'raha back to the Source. Have him "rejoin" with his younger self on an individual basis. Might even get to keep his memories that way, but still end up in his younger self's body on the Source. Then tada! G'raha ready on the Source to be part of the future adventures of Team Scion.

It seems reasonable to operate under the supposition that each shard is something like one piece of the greater puzzle. Taking an identical piece out of a duplicate puzzle and trying to make it fit perfectly in the original won't work out too well, particularly if its counterpart from the original puzzle has taken its place. It could also simply be that while not necessarily a function of uniqueness, a single shard could not be absorbed more than once regardless.

If the opposite were true - if an individual could indeed absorb the same shard multiple times from different timelines - then a loop would occur that opens a can of worms I'm not entirely sure SE would want to explore. An individual crazed enough to hop timelines and kill their alternate selves repeatedly for the purpose of absorbing them could conceivably gain an immense amount of power for their efforts. One would require specialized skills and a means of traversing the timelines to pull this off, however.

I'm just here sitting waiting to find out if we're ever going to merge with Unukalhai or not since he is a Warrior of Light from the 13th and I theorize he might be one of our reflections. Time will tell.

Can he do that while merged with the Crystal Tower though? Also can he even split himself from the Crystal Tower and if he can will he survive? As it is he's already an "old man". How long do miquotes live to begin with?

I am curious if the 5.1 to 5.3 MSQ may have the story split between the First and Source each Update MSQ thus WoL may travel between the First and Source to deal with issues on both sides so they can build the necessary events to get the Scion's back to the Source (and maybe bring Ryne to the Source with them so she can continue to grow more into her own character as the story continues rather than being left behind in the First).

Though one aspect I do hope to see is a chance to play as Gaius during a 5.X MSQ instance to get a taste of that Garlean Gunblade Job he has been since 1.0 era.

Is it ever mentioned if G'raha has the echo? I remember him having echo "pains" during the crystal tower quests but I can't recall if it was mentioned or not. His minion also has those pains.

It's never mentioned that he has it - it seems like it's specific to his dormant "inherited memories" of Allag, rather than a general ability. It does seem like it's a similar effect though. He never actually passes out during visions like we seem to do, but it did incapacitate him at one point.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure G'raha doesn't have the Echo. That said, he might still be able to be "rejoined" with his self on the Source since they are still the same soul. Or fragments of the same soul. Sort of.* Either of which puts him in kind of the same boat as the Ancients, even though I don't think he actually is one. But the souls of the two G'rahas might be able to merge or something.

I am half expecting a Marty McFly moment to still catch up to G'raha in the patch quests, since they do call out the paradox in the post-credits scene. This is my brainstorming for how "our" G'raha, if that moment comes, can still be preserved. With the added benefit of being able to continue in the MSQ on the Source, though that part could of course be accomplished via other means.

Though Exarch has more life experience and, depending on how we're handling the effect of that, his soul might not be considered a copy of Source!G'raha's soul now? I saw someone mention that experience added material to the lifestream when souls returned in FF7 somewhere. If FF14 is doing that, too, then Exarch's soul is now different to the soul of Source!Gr'aha. Also, he does have an aetherically "denser" soul due to having lived through a world rejoining in the future timeline. That might also be enough of a difference btwn the two to make them not copies of each other anymore.

You know it would be a bit funny if the key to bring the Scions back to the source is the Grimoire that Alisaie and Alphanuid got from their Grandfather that we have not seen Alisaie use since Bahamut raid. Dissidia Opera Omina revealed she still has the Grimoire with her all the time which means it should be with her body in the Source.
