Install update when?

Is the only way to get the update for tomorrow to wait until then or is there a way to download it tonight ahead of time?

I see posts from dataminers who already have access to the data from somewhere, so that tells me that not everybody has had to wait for tomorrow, and given my rather bad internet anything that saves me a few hours would be nice.

One can usually start downloading updates a few hours before the maintenance period ends - but exactly when is not possible to say in advance.

Some expansion strings have historically been added in X.5 patches. Hrothgar were accidentally revealed early, for example, because the French localization team screwed up and it just showed every race string if the dialogue had a <player_race>(or whatever it's called in XIV) tag.
