Definitions:
long term single target/AOE HPS: the maximum amount of healing potency per second for a single target/a group of targets, under the condition that only spammable actions are used (e.g. Assize, Whispering Dawn, Afflatus Solace and Lustrate cannot be used)
short term single target/AOE HPS: the maximum amount of healing potency per second for a single target/a group of targets, over a duration of at least 10 seconds, under the condition that actions of instant healing/shielding cannot be used (e.g.Afflatus Solace, Lustrate, Assize, and Indomitability cannot be used)
burst single target/AOE potency: the total maximum amount of healing potency for a single target/a group of targets, under the condition that only actions of instant healing/shielding or buffs can be used, and over the duration in which the actions are used non stop
Note: All of the buffs that increase healing magic potency by a percentage, including Asylum, Temperance, Fey Illumination, and Dissipation are not counted, unless otherwise noted, because the effects of these buffs are very similar; shield potency is also counted as healing potency; the occasional Catalyze effect of Adloquium is not counted for HPS; pet actions' potency is multiplied by a factor of 2/3 (the description in Maim and Mend regarding the pet already exists before SHB and the pets still have such a scaling); the recast time of GCD actions and ticking CD of dots are assumed to be 2.5s and 3s; and, all of the buffs and regen effects are assumed to be cast before the duration starts, if possible
Why I count shields as healing for HPS: 1. HPS is measured when the healing is non stop. When you are healing non stop, it is usually because there is a persistent wave of damage, which can negate the shield quickly; and, when do not need to heal no stop, I guess the potency does not really matter much 2. In special case, Emergency Tactics can be used, considering that Adloquium only has a 2 second cast time and Emergency Tactics only has a 15 second recast time now 3. Even if shields cannot be regarded as healing, my final conclusion remains the same.
To give a sense what healing/shielding potency actually means, 1800 potency is about the full maximum HP of a healer
long term single target HPS:
WHM: Cure II (700/2.5s) + Regen (200/3s) + Regen from Medica II (100/3s) = 380/s (In reality, it is lower because it takes time to cast Regen and Medica II. But it is at least above 700/2.5s=280/s)
SCH: Adloquium (675/2.5s) + Embrace (100/3s)= 296/s
long term AOE HPS:
WHM: Cure III (550/2.5s) + Regen from Medica II (100/3s) = 253.2/s
SCH: Succor (405/2.5s) = 162/s
short term single target HPS:
WHM: Cure II (700/2.5s) + Regen (200/3s) + Regen from Medica II (100/3s) + Regen from Asylum (100/3s)= 413/s
SCH: Adloquium (675/2.5s) + Fey Union or Seraphic Veil (267/3s) + Regen from Whispering Dawn (80/3s) + Regen from Sacred Soil (100/3s) = 419/s
(for short term single target HPS, SCH might seem to have an upper hand because SCH does not need to waste two GCDs on Regen and Medica II. But when Presence of Mind is also considered, the two are about the same)
