When they first introduced flying I did think it was stupid GC choco couldn't fly not to mention you got a black chocobo that could fly but you had to find the currents to be able to fly. Having just finished Heavensward, it was irritating that gathering was being hampered by having to quest currents and progress MSQ to be able to get to some currents.
Well they said the live letter that they use Aether to be able to fly
