    5.0 Crafting Changes

    The big changes in the prelim patch notes:
    • Piece by Piece & Muscle Memory cap at 1,000 progress
    • Maker's Mark caps at 25 steps
    • Byregot's Brow is gone
    • Generic Name/Brand of the Elements given to all jobs
    • Adjusted Control caps at 3,000
    • Innovation stacks with Inner Quiet
    • Heart of the crafter has max of 5 uses per synth
    • Full HQ mats give you 75% starting quality instead of 50%
    • QoL changes to crafting UI

    Innovation always stacked with IQ btw, but now it is capped I was already breaking that cap in Stormbringer. as I would get more than 3k increase. The change is to stop it from getting out of control.

    The PBP/MM change is huge though. Also, 100% efficiency touches got reduced in the amount they add. So touches like prudent will do less now.

    Seems like SE saw that Heart of the Disciplines would be used again with the new modification. Only reason I see where they would nerf a move that was never really used due to the required consumable.

    Also, sounds like we will need to setup double-blessings rotation now that the IQ bonus (and Innovation) is capped.

    Seems like we have new puzzles to resolved now that we cannot just pump the biggest numbers as possible.
    We'll need to see the effects of the new skills to evaluate this though.

    Yup - I am expecting to lose a LOT of mats until I get new rotations figured out. Still not sure exactly how some of the changes will affect rotations, except 100% sure that none of my old macros will work.

    This is not the case. The English translation is misleading, other translations as well as a better Japanese translation indicates it more clearly: a 3000 bonus control cap was added and it is shared between IQ and Innovation. Innovation's functionality is not changed.

    I really wasnt expecting this change at all. Dunno if well see double blessings since youd still need to build up quite a few stacks and blessings power should still increase with inner quiet stacks.

    What really caught my attention was the new abilities. Yeah we dont know most of them, but rapid synth 3 could be either 70% or even bulkier, replacing piece by piece. Preparatory Touch sounds like some new combo move like the observe combos.

    Nothing stops you from doing touches at 11 stacks since it will do massive quality. my Focused Touch does around 3100 from stack 10-11 for example. Additionally, You will use a lot of cp rebuilding the stacks as well as having to use all 3 buffs again. from doing an extra couple of touches. It depends how far away you are when you get to the finish :P

    Also, the new skills may be overpowered, we don't know yet!

    They nerfed heart because it can be used to create an infinite CP loop with whistle. "No one" uses heart because its overkill. If they didn't nerf heart though, Ishgard crafting would probably been all about doing endless whistle loops.

    I think that the cap means you will stop seeing a gain in Quality added from touches at IQ11. Later on, when gear gets good enough, you won’t see a gain in Quality added from touches at IQ10. IF you have more than 1500 base Control, Innovation will be useless at IQ11. I would have to do the math to know if/when IQ10 would hit that 3k mark. A table of when each IQ hits that 3k mark would be interesting.
