PS4 Digital Shadowbringers preload ?

Hey everyone,

I'm a bit worried because I preordered Shadowbringers the other day on PS4 from the Playstation Store and all the preordered games or items have a countdown timer but here, only the theme that comes along the expansion has one. The expansion itself is nowhere to be seen (on the console).

Is that the same for everyone ? And the update will magically appear before the start of the early access ?

Leave your PS4 switched on or in Rest Mode (if you have PS+) and the game will automatically update when the patch is available.

14 isn't like other games, the expansion isn't a new game as such, it's just an extra large patch to the current game.

Edit: regarding the avatar and theme, the store description says 28th.

You will get the 5.0 patch on friday regardless if you bought the add-on or not. Everyone has to download it so the new races, jobs, gear and combat changes are available for everyone. The new content is just locked from people who have not bought the add-on, but you can still get matched with a Hrothgar Dancer in a low level dungeon who wears new gear, so all that stuff has to be added to everyones game.

You should have a countdown timer on your PS4 in downloads showing you what time it will begin download. I'm on PC now but still got the standard edition for PS4 just in case my PC decided to be bad.

I've always done a physical edition of the expansion, plugged in my Early Access code and have never had a problem. The expansion patch will auto-download on PS4 and you will be good to go. Then for those that bought a physical copy, you will just input the official code for the game in your case on 7/2

Exactly like Corbin stated, leave your PS4 on rest mode.
I am so thankful they finally went this route as opposed to the old method of downloading via that really outdated launcher/updater of SE

PSA for PS4 players leaving the console on Rest mode for auto download: the PS4 will only check once every 24 hours for new downloads. I would recommend waking up the console manually on Thursday and check for updates. I guess they will release the patch sometime on Thursday (they did something similar for the other major patches that used the PS4 patcher).

They must have changed that last time I looked, I remember rest mode downloads/updates requiring it. My bad.
