Not really, because pet tank causes more harm than good as it is in group setting unless your party has a plan. 5.0 Titan/Topaz can be used more freely in more scenarios.

They already fixed that by removing Egi mitigation to his tankbuster...

Having Titan be able to tank in typical open world content does not require that he pulls off actual tanks. There's a huge enmity chasm between the two even assuming one doesn't take the obvious solutions like simply adding, say, a permanent Shadewalker from you to Titan.

It's not as if the changes have made him more broadly applicable, either; it's simply swapped him from being niche to inferior in either newly delineated niche to survive into 5.0 (AoE and single-target).

Previously Garuda and Ifrit provided two styles of the same capacities, via either increased mobility and damage or increased snapshot burst damage, with Garuda only ever being obligatory with other casters -- which... wouldn't even be an issue at this point given the removal of Contagion as a raid buff.

I don't get this whole need to have one clear better choice in situation X and another in situation Y so that you have no actual choice, only more swapping. And why you'd then leave a pet that is then made purely to be inferior to either one in exchange for a survival CD that sees no use in good play (since, if you're going to die in a way that requires Titan's survival CD on you, so is probably everyone short of the tanks and BLM anyways) is even more baffling.
