Let's go straight to the point and you can read my reasoning and explanation after that if you are still interested. Viera and Hrothgar players should be especially concerned about this.
I would like to ask Square Enix for an improvement of the Calamity Salvager with the addition of Mog Station gear with M/F versions, such as the Nezha Lord/Lady items or even the Yuna/Tidus one. I think it would be a simple and fast solution in accordance with their latest implementations of gear for the summer events. It's a system that has been working for years and which gets updated every once in a while.
I recently opened a thread telling how surprised I was when I realised some gender locked Mog Station items couldn't be traded at the Calamity Salvager. I wanted to get some information on the issue on future plans, as well as to inform other players in the same situation. However, a friendly user has told me it wouldn't really be of much use and that it would be better to start a new thread asking for some improvements. I think she was right, so here it is.
Some of the items on the Mog Station are gender-locked but can be traded for their equivalent piece of gear at the Calamity Salvager. Male Swimsuits can be traded for female one's and viceversa. The same happens with the Eternal Bond gear or the Snow/Lightning clothes. However, this is not true for every item.
With the implementation of the 2 first gender locked races, many players will find they are no longer able to equip some of the items they bought in the Mog Station. For example, I knew about the trade feature of the Calamity Salvager and tried to exchange my Nezha Lord gear for the Nezha Lady one in preparation for my Viera transition. Much to my surprise, this item is not tradeable.
I also have the Aymeric gear, but I already knew I wouldn't be able to equip it if I ever changed my gender since it has no female equivalent. That's why I wasn't expecting anything from the first place. It could be made unisex, together with the scion's clothes, but that's another story.
With the new races, I feel a lot of players will be at a crossroads deciding whether they want to give up on being the race they want or losing value on the money the spent because they won't be able to equip it again. I think spending money to change your race while still feeling some kind of regret in the back of your mind because you're still losing something is kind of uncomfortable.
Feel free to offer any suggestion and show your support. Please, avoid commenting if you are going to hate or simply say "it's your fault" or "no one forces you to pay money". I would like to have a constructive and fruitful thread that helps to improve the game, the services and the players' experience.
