Yeah, one of my pet peeves is someone sending a blunt invite just because they noticed I don't have a FC yet. No whisper or what, nothing, just boom, invite to the FC. It dosen't feel welcoming. It feels like they are picking up what's left lmao.

Or getting a whisper (with a copy-pasted shout message) asking you to join the FC.

The only FCs I joined was when I got personally asked if I was interested. Then I'd ask a few questions and see for myself if it sounds good

    Hmm

Essentially one that just isn't dead and isn't full of people who feel overly elitist. Other than that, it can be anything really. I love the guild i'm in.

On a serious note: FC's for me need to tick a few things.
Atleast medium sized and super active DAILY (at least 10 players on at peak midpatch lul)(Ive started, lead and joined super young FC's. Fun for a time, but 8/10 they become ghost towns)
Extremely active discord/FC shat (I would much prefer too much fc chat than non at all)
    FC house to loiter at
Thicker skinned mindset (people who wont take offense to the occasional curse sprinkled rant)(obviously no drama, conflict or calling out. More or less complaining that my but slider hasn't been developed yet)
    Group activities.

If the above can be met, im in. The first FC I joined which wasn't my own or super tiny was amazing, but became a ghost town in midpatch lul and then ceased to exist all together (I miss you Kitchen Knights!!). My Current FC and my favorite thus far (Mogfia) is everything I mentioned and more. Ill never leave unless it goes dead (which I don't ever think will happen)

Yeah, guilds (or whatever name they go by in different games) are tricky.

I first tried this game in the spring of '16 for something new to try as a free trial, had no expectation of playing more than a day or two. Someone saw I was new and offered advice. Usually I just ignore than because in a lot of games people just want something from you, but since I wasn't planning to stay chatted with them and they were genuinely helpful and not pushy. When I bought the game a couple of days later I joined their FC. Not many on because it was a content lull, but when the others came back was going to learn newer/harder content so I just pugged my way through to a level 60 WHM and SCH. But that FC never recovered and eventually folded.

Several months later I just popped into the game and literally ran into someone from the other FC who invited me to another FC. Also friendly, also small, and so when I was on kept pugging. By that point I was already a tourist, dropping in and out. That FC also folded, about a year and half after I joined. Good people in both, but just not enough critical mass/momentum to sustain.

Small, medium, or large FCs can all be good but being friendly and active and a fit for your personality are key (to me). Also, that people more or less follow the dictum: "Do not be annoying, do not be easily annoyed." But that's really hard. Keeping an FC active even though some people need to take breaks or cut back from time to time, having officers that can balance the load, and getting members into things. It's a struggle juggle.

I wonder how Fellowships will change the game.
