It could be race, gender, grand company, free company, main job etc.

Changing to Viera will likely blindside you in at least one of several ways. Even stuff you won't lose access to might not quite be the same. Hairstyles, emotes, and especially glamour choices you've unlocked all might not be to your liking on your bunny. It intangibles like this how people predict that people will change back after playing their bunny for a month or so. The only way I can think of to truly avoid all of that is to start a fresh character, but going through the grind again is not everyone's cup of tea.
I understand the state of things. I know how things are, but I don't think it is fair. Also, I would rather play a male character, but they don't offer that possibility for Vieras, which makes the issue even more unfair. You mention other restictions, but the difference is those don't involve real money. If I change GC I will be able to do so free of charge and get all their items and mounts ingame. If I use Fantasia to change my race, I'll be able to buy their racial exclusive items ingame too. However, if I use a Fantasia to change my gender, I'll lose value on the money I have spent. If I change into a Viera, everytime I open my glamour dresser and see any of the items I'll think: "There goes my money for not being a fortuneteller."

To make things clear again, I understand the situation, but I think it's wrong to make players feel bad when they are forced to choose either to spend over 13 euros again or lose the value of their items because they weren't able to see the future 2 years before. After all, the experience should be focused on making players comfortable and happy. I'm not asking them to give free items or to lose money. It has already been bought. I just think it should be made tradeable like other items or unisex like they seemed to be heading with some previous decisions.

Nobody has a crystal ball, and foresight has never been SE's or the mogshop's forte. What I'm getting at though is that they are not intentionally trying to make players feel bad, and they are most certainly not forcing you to spend any actual money on the MS.

The aftermarket value of the items you purchase are determined by you. In your case, the value is still high enough to reconsider changing to a Viera. If you follow through with the fantasia, then yeah, you will have pretty much set a lower value on the items you will no longer be able to use. Because you indeed are not a fortuneteller, it would be a good idea to not discard any of those items in case you decide to change back.
