Hello,
I was wondering if we have an idea of the soft cap for those 2 stats on war.
There is post about BRD and LNC, but Str looks kinda different for war so i imagine the caps arent the same.
Thx!

New stat caps according to his post-1.21 testing are...
PGL/MNK: 348STR/305-310INT
LNC/DRG: 348STR/305-310PIE
MAR/WAR: 348STR/305-310VIT
ARC/BRD: 330PIE/295-300DEX
GLA/PLD was not tested. Tested using Ifrit's weapons. If you use another weapon with lower base damage, these caps will DECREASE. The base damage alters the caps. These are the caps for weapon skills. He assumed that all WSs would have the same cap after testing 2 WAR WSs and found they had the same cap. Auto-attack stats will cap earlier, but he figured people would only care about the WS caps so he focused on posting that. If you want the auto-attack / light shot caps I can dig up the excel file he gave me.
It is ALWAYS to your advantage to cap the stat before focusing on ATK. Also remember that if STR is your modifier (say on MNK), you get 2-fold benefit for +1STR (1 for the mod and 1 for the fact STR is always 0.67 ATK). After you hit your 348 STR cap, you'll only get the 2:3 ratio bonus.

Does this mean that for every STR or VIT I add to my MRD/WAR, I will see +1.67 ATK until I reach the soft cap, after which I will only see +.67 ATK?
That quote isn't accurate anymore. The stat caps are based on dps stat.

So what would 1 VIT or 1 STR do for my MRD in terms of damage? I'm talking in regards to the fact that Vitality and Strength are known to "Determines damage dealt by Marauder arms."
The main reason I ask this is I am still new to the game and considering which Grand Company to join. I'm looking into the future of utilizing the sanction effect granted to the axes from each respective GC. One gives VIT+40, another Accuracy+30, and finally Attack Power +45. Wondering if the VIT+40 would solely be worth choosing that Grand Company.
I dont think I would base my decision on those weapons since there is bound to be more weapons added with updates
Don't base your GC selection on the weapons they have available. Every time SE releases more GC ranks, they introduce more GC gear to match. All the company's get different stuff each time, so at the end of the day the difference in the current selection is moot.
Assuming STR cap is 348 then you want to try hit that then load on the atk power. Also don't neglect ACC as if you're missing; then STR and ATK is pointless.
With the change from weapon dmg to weapon DPS effecting stat caps until more testing is done we wont know.
My theory is for every +2 DPS we get the cap would raise by 10
So if a 40 DPS weapon has a cap of 350/310 a 42 DPS weapon would be 360/320
Of course this would make sense, and we all know SE hates to make sense ><

I'd say the +40 VIT one is probably the best general purpose weapon for WAR.So what would 1 VIT or 1 STR do for my MRD in terms of damage? I'm talking in regards to the fact that Vitality and Strength are known to "Determines damage dealt by Marauder arms."
