I craft low level gear and sell it all the time. Have you checked the Ul'dah market wards? Lowbie stuff that NPCs sell for 50k or so usually are sold by (smart) crafters on the Ul'dah market wards for around 15-25k. Depends on your server though I guess.

If no one's selling what you want, you can try /shouting for a crafter to make you some. You can get a lot of the materials for gear just by killing stuff, and if you don't have the ingredients, you can definitely buy those at the Ul'dah Market Wards and then give them to a crafter to synth for you. If you have trouble trusting people, find and join a friendly linkshell with crafters and then there should be no chance of them running with your mats lol.

If you get a melee or magic job to level 23 or so you can easily solo in Shposhae and that yields TONS of lvl15-20 gear if you follow the guides online and open the chests/coffers. I always walked out of that dungeon with a totally full inventory.

OR you could just start crafting stuff yourself. Getting any Disciple of Hand job to lvl10 is quite painless, it doesn't take much time at all. Especially now with the awesome 1.21 synthing exp. You can easily craft lvl15 gear with the right DoH jobs at level 10. One of my favorite things about this MMO is that 90% or more of the gear can be crafted, and I can be totally self-sufficient when it comes to gear, if I want.

ALSO!!! Once you hit level 10 and level 15, more sidequests will become unlocked to you, and they reward you with armor for your level. The sidequests are different from levequests in that you have to look for NPCs scattered throughout the main cities with (!) bubbles over their heads and talk to them to get the quest.

NOT TO MENTION!! Sometimes random levequests reward you with equipment. It's kind of luck of the draw. If none of the battlecraft leves where you're at reward equipment, you can always take a quick airship ride over to one of the other cities and check the leves they're handing out there.

It's not difficult at all to gear yourself in this game, you just need to know where to look Things aren't just handed to you like in other MMOs.
