Do limited auction slots hurt low level players?

So here's a tricky market question! I'm looking for opinions, and not a 'right or wrong' thing. So maybe folks can share their opinions!

I noticed that because my auction slots are limited to 40 per character. That I'll specifically try to min/max what I sell. In short--this means I very rarely will craft and sell low level gear and items. Even when I've noticed there's literally ZERO quantity of those items available.

I sometimes wonder if people trying to min/max their profit by skipping low-tier and mid-tier items can affect low level players by reducing the availability of upgrades. Food for thought!

Uh, you don't get more auction slots for being high level, or ever, unless you essentially increase your monthly sub cost.

Honestly I sell things daily and have for years and always have plenty of auction slots even when I'm going all out. If someone is running out of slots, you should change what you are selling, because clearly what you have up has a very bad turnover rate. I'd actually say it's better to sell the low level gear that there is none of then whatever you are currently trying, that will sell pretty quickly most of the time due to no competition.

40 is plenty. Try coming off FFXI where you were limited to 7, and could only sell single items or full stacks.

Just gotta learn what isn't worth selling. Always check both sale value and sale frequency, both are important.

I think the OP is talking about this from a different direction than you guys are taking it. He/she is asking if because of limited slots, are people choosing not to bother with selling low level gear thus impacting lower level people looking to purchase gear.

As to the question: No, I don't think so because there isn't really a need for leveling gear that is not fairly readily available from vendors and/or dungeons.

You don't sell low level gear because the game throws it at you. Other then accessories.
The lvl 15 set from either the lvl 15 dungeons or the job tutorials will last till the lvl 34 set from Brayflox longstop and that set easily lasts till your lvl 50 job quest AF set.

I think people don't bother with selling low level gear because more and more people are learning you can just pick up most of it from vendors. You can also pick up a sweet set of level 15 stuff from Hall of the Novice for free.

Careful saying things like that; the people who ragged on me for daring to run Vault/Library in i130 gear when I could have had ever-so-slightly-better stuff by then will rag on you too.

If I really wanted mats bad enough I'd break down and use the MB but witht he prices of materials I honestly think it's cheaper to finally break down and level gathering classes

I've been playing this game since 2013 and didn't know auction slots were limited to 40.

I think new players will be fine.

I don't think it affects them all that badly. First timers can gear up a great deal through the MSQ and the occasional side quest if they also give gear. HQ leveling gear can be a bit pricey for those playing their first time through and I assume that this gear is bought up by those leveling an alt with a bit deeper pockets and a lot less time. There's always a market for it though because plenty of peeps just love BiS for their current level even if it's pre max.

I personally only tend to craft leveling sets of gear when leveling one of my own jobs. When I craft for myself, I tend to gather enough mats to make 2-3 sets since I am out gathering the stuff anyway. Might as well profit for the time spent.

That's not bad in my opinion because it can be done.. depending on what role you are it might put more pressure on the group but it is possible.

What I find bad is the fact you wear 210 gear and go into stormblood dungeons... that's a higher ceiling that isn't okay in my book.
