FPS dropped after optimisation with Nvidia Experience.

This is not a huge problem, but it's frankly irritating as I see no reason for it. I moved my game onto my SSD from my HD - this gave me a stable FPS of 120+. However, after the use of Nvidia Experience - the FPS dropped to 30-45fps at maximum. From what I can recall, all it did was change two options - I can't remember them at the moment, but I was able to switch them back to the previous settings. Still no dice, the game is sat at 30-45fps. I should note - that the options the optimiser put me on were lower in demand than what I originally had selected.

I'm assuming that Nvidia has changed something somewhere which can't be edited through the in-game settings.

Is there any guidance on where I should look, any numbers I should be tweaking for it to stop doing this?

Oh, and my FPs is not capped. Switching this option on and off doesn't fix the issue.

Tldr = Game at max settings in full-screen window mode = fps 120+
Game optimised by Nvidia in full-screen window mode = 30-45fps with fewer max settings.

edit- silly butt me, thinks Nvidia optimised for 4k - so might be that, which is acceptable.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I'm a little confused about your edited post, were you able to resolve the issue by changing the settings back? If not, can you reply back with a System Report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Sweet Twelve, never use GeForce Experience "optimizations". It is however, a good source of information about what each setting does, but tune it yourself for either performance or eyecandy, both if you have the GPU overhead to spare. Personally I hate HBAO+, weird halo shadows around stuff...also eats framerates for in my opinion, uglier lighting. I turn it off with glee

I haven't been able to change it back to normal no, it has remained like this. I honestly figured it was normal due to the display mode and graphics card, etc. Anyway, here's some info.

Thank you for the update Gwenorai.

I'm not sure what the Nvidia optimizations did, but playing the game at 4K resolution with this graphics card would probably result in 30-45 fps.

Were you playing the game at a lower resolution before? if so, try changing back to that resolution.

I'm pretty sure Nvidia just kicked it up to 4k resolution as I didn't bother to do it myself. The game seems to work rather well at this fps so I can't complain all that much. I'll play around with it, see if it's worth actually worth being at that resolution.

Thank you so much for your help.
