Greetings folks,
as a frequent player of Mahjong i often come across newer players.
players that often only want the Mgp from mahjong and not actually play the game.
this unfortunately turns into often negative sessions of mahjong and thus toxic/negative behaviour. (i am no exception in that behaviour)
earlier the week i came across such a player again and that unfortunately turned into a ticket report against me. *shrug* it happens.
but it got me thinking. what needs to be done to solve this problem?
i could think of 3 ways to solve the issue.
1, add a FF or leave button.
a way for players to exit the game whenever they want too, to be replaced by a bot.
unfortunately this can be abused by players that arn't lucky on their 1st few rounds.
(even tho i won plenty a matches last round)
2, remove the challange log reward.
as it stands the challange log gives you a 5000 MGP reward for finishing 2 matches.
this in the grand scheme of things, is a rather small amount. (seeing how any other
fate gives you around 4000 MGP.
by removing the MGP reward, it prevents people from joining matches who otherwise
have no interest in playing the game and are only out for the reward.
3, fair warning before matches.
matches can take forever. like anywhere between 5 minutes to a full hour.
by giving players a fair warning stating that the matches can take a long time it may
prevent players from queing for easy MGP.
which also works by stating that playing mahjong DOESN'T GIVE MGP!
personally i don't mind new players. i'm always open to teaching what i know and what works and what not. but playing with or against players that don't want to play. isn't really helping either side of the party. by removing the mgp or adding a quit button this would solve the issue quite easily.
Mahjong to me has quickly become my fav passtime game to play ing FF14 and i would encourage people to try it out. as long as you set aside the time for it and are open to learning the most basic mechanics. it can be great fun.
thank you for reading
