If 24 dollars is "an arm and a leg" you really can't afford 15 dollars a month for a video game, let alone the electricity and network connection necessary to play.

Once again, people decide what is valuable to them on a case by case value. If it isn't worth it to you, fine. That's your call. But calling others insane or other things because they can skip 3 takeout meals or a couple shots at the bar on the weekend and buy something else is narrow minded. Value is where you find it.

If $24 is chopping off an arm and a leg, then you should be more focused on your iRL situation then worrying about the price of digital goods. Do you ever buy non-essential things at all in the span of one month just for your enjoyment? Do you ever go to the movies/bars/restaurants? The next time you're about to spend money on something that is just a one-time thing, think about whether you should instead skip out and put that money on a mount that will always be there for years to come. Unless your job is paying you criminally, proper budgeting will easily give you an extra $24 to use; I had to budget all the time on an underpaid job during college.

Now rabid fans will defend cosmetic ones despite the obvious price gouging (mounts shouldn't cost more than full games). How long till you guys start to defend pay to win stuff since the game is pve (trick question people already are asking for then)?

Every retainer provides 20 Marketboard listings and there's the matter of ventures,especially quick ventures. When it comes to making gil, paid additional retainers are definitely an advantage.

Gil is useless once you have up to certain point.

Having piles of gil lets you bypass certain grinds.

Don't feel like gearing up your additional jobs with tomestones?

Buy crafted gear off the Market Board.

Don't feel like doing Eureka but want the glams/hairstyle,mounts,minions,etc?

Buy them off the Market Board and enjoy the rest of the game.

I find it a bit ironic that I paid $17 to skip 3 months of grinding so that I could play this game with my friends who are already lvl 70 on top of receiving gear and money in the game, and yet 1 mount is 7 dollars more than all of that.

It is a cosmetic, you dont need that mount, heck you barely ever travel across the map in this game and you rarely see your mount. There are ton of mounts you could obtain through playing in-game content

And why supporting the game by spending more money into than its necessary? Actually playing it making queues for low lvl duties shorter will help it more than random 10$ spend in the mogstation. Just play it, dont jump potion or you will left the game bored.

While I wish that there was some way (even if long and annoying) to get everything in game, cash shops are the new gaming reality. I'm just happy it's not pay to win.

First off an expansion costs $40 which is more than a mount cost not half of it. Second, you don't need anything off the MS to succeed in this game. Not even retainers. And no, they aren't an advantage for hoarding gil and having more MB listings. Because 99% of the high tier gil items that drop from places like eureka are, again, cosmetics you don't need. Crafted gear? If your hemorrhaging gil, you likely have the crafters required to MAKE the stuff yourself anyway.

None of it is required. People are just under that illusion because they want it. Need and want are two different ball parks.

Can someone please explain to me why added content is so sickeningly expensive? It is completely despicable how much they are charging for say, 1 mount, or 1 emote. The fat cat mount, for example, is $24.00! It is just a single mount and yet it costs more than an expansion for the game.

Create 8 characters on one server, put them together in a single FC (for easy item transfer with the FC safe), and enjoy your 10 retainers without paying for extra retainer.

but jokes aside, I understand that some people cant afford that stuff, but I doubt they gonna change that any time soon. All you can do is get it when the stuff is on sale.
