Well, yeah, because they are F2P to begin with, FFXIV isn't one of them. The other popular sub-mmo has a cash shop as well, and unfortunately, FFXIV's one isn't any better than WoW's. Just with the number of items available and since how many years they both exist, FFXIV doesn't look that good in comparison.

As far as I know, all copyrights still seem to be own by Square Enix, no matter the country (as we can see on both chinese and korean FFXIV websites). But if you have any official statement that confirm the opposite that would be very helpful to me since this keeps coming back and forth.


I'm just wondering... Would it be so difficult to accept that Square Enix is maybe like any other company? That they just want to make money like anyone else? And that today there is probably no other reason for the microtransactions to exist?
