    Its pure cosmetics though...

I can assure you a lot of people arent happy with this, but here are a few answers:
    1) Because they can - because people do pay that amount of money
    2) Because they dont sell gamebreaking stuff - you can play the game perfectly fine without a fat cat mount or a specific emote
    3) Because the mogstation-money is apparently the only money FFXIV makes that goes directly back into the game - our sub-money is used to fund other SE-projects aswell.
    4) Everything that is in the mogstation is specifically being made for the mogstation. Nothing gets taken out of the game - we wouldnt have gotten something like the fat cat etc. if it wasnt for the mogstation in the first place.

You also dont need to feel bad for people who choose to spend their money on something they enjoy - may that be a mount, a box of expensive chocolates or anything else luxurious. Its their free choice to do with their money as they please and use it to buy something that gives them joy. Seeing how certain well requested mounts are locked behind achievements, some people might actually prefer it to just being able to spend a few dollars - instead of having to hunt down 2000 S-ranks.

If those mounts arent worththe money to you: dont buy them and stick with the things you get within the game.

    .
Well that's pretty sad, I mean I do feel that sometime SE under fund FF14.
like, Y.P keep saying that he lacks ressources for doing all he wants and I'm just wondering... why?
Why does he lack that much ressources when FF14 is clearly what brings the most money to SE atm... shouldn't they capitalise on that?

I find this a little bit ironic, since it appears that you bought a job jump potion for SCH based on the gear your SCH is wearing (full i260 Shire with the i245 Fillibuster ring). Regular price for those is $25 USD for a single character, where as the mounts you have listed (Fatter Cat) are $24 USD and account-wide, meaning every character you ever make will get it.

That said, if you don’t want to pay the full price, the account-wide mounts eventually go on sale. As do things like the $18 USD Chinese/Korean outfits. Usually after they’ve been on the store for about a year or so.

The only thing I will really give you are the emotes. I personally find them overpriced for how lackluster the most recent ones are. But I just don’t buy them. And I’d personally like the Chinese/Korean exclusives to be account-wide, but from what I’ve heard, they cost less here than they did in their respective cash shops so. /shrug

If I think something is overpriced, I just don’t buy it.

I find it a bit ironic that I paid $17 to skip 3 months of grinding so that I could play this game with my friends who are already lvl 70 on top of receiving gear and money in the game, and yet 1 mount is 7 dollars more than all of that.

You spent $17 on a single character. As I already explained, the mounts are $24 for ALL CHARACTERS YOU WILL EVER MAKE. You only spent $17 because the job potions are on sale, btw. Regular price is $25. Again, you're complaining about pricey microtransactions while making them yourself. That's why it's ironic. Even more so if you bought expansion skips, as they are more money on top of the job skip you purchased.

PS - getting to level 60 hardly takes 3 months of grinding if you just do the MSQ. Especially if you make a character on a preferred world and receive the Road to 60 buff. I made an alt on Twintania this week. After 2 days of play, she's already almost level 50. And it wasn't even hardcore play.

A 3 figure salary? Do you perhaps mean 5 or 6 figure salary? 3-figure salary would be in the hundreds of currency annually. Which is stupidly poor.

That said, it unlikely that a majority make 6-figure salaries in this game. I'm a college student, so I certainly don't. I'm just good at saving money for things I want, so perhaps others here are too.

It is a cosmetic, you dont need that mount, heck you barely ever travel across the map in this game and you rarely see your mount. There are ton of mounts you could obtain through playing in-game content
    https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Mounts

And why supporting the game by spending more money into than its necessary? Actually playing it making queues for low lvl duties shorter will help it more than random 10$ spend in the mogstation. Just play it, dont jump potion or you will left the game bored.

You'd be surprised the actual costs it takes to hire good 3D modelers and pay them for their time, it's hardly "little cost to make that one mount."

Like all companies, they figure out the costs of R&Ding stuff, price it accordingly based on analytics & statistics and then rake in the money. Based on how I saw everyone and their grandma having a fat cat when they first came out (Almost every mount sees giant swaths of players purchasing them) I think they've found their target price vs potential buyers to maximize their profit.

At the end of the day, people have very different ideas of whats a good price and whats not. That fat cast cost me like maybe 2-3 days worth of coffee + breakfast, which was pretty easy to skip breakfast to put that money towards a highly adorable mount instead. Vote with your wallet; yet the $24.99 price point has already shown giant success if they make the mount appealing enough, so at the end of the day it's up to you to decide if its worth it or not.

The fact that it's the same price as a full game is why I'll never buy mounts. I understand that most of them are "account-wide" but I think having more than 2 characters is kind of the minority (i.e. the account wide feature is not very valuable). That being said, I know that it's also expensive to design and model additional features, like mounts... but I personally just can't afford them. I don't think I would even want to afford them when they cost as much as a game.

I don't know their sales, but I kind of think that they would be able to make more money in the long run if they made their items cheaper. If people see they're in an "affordable price range," the more likely they're going to buy them. The more mounts or emotes or whatever they sell, the more able they are to pay the artists/programmers. The profit margin is probably too high, but I honestly wouldn't know. It's not my field. If the mounts were between $10 & $15 (something like that), I would definitely snap all of them up along the way for myself and even for my friends on special occasions.

That being said, I do buy the dances and rarely minions for myself and for friends when on sale. Usually for something special like a birthday present. A minion or a dance costs about as much as a decent card with a little something extra so I like them for things like that. So, the price of minions and dances/emotes usually don't bother me. If they're in the more expensive range, I just gloss over them.

I won't be coming back to FFXIV's forums. The forum vibe is way too venomous and brings out the worst in me. I don't like who I am on the forums, so it's best to distance myself.
