Misleading/deceiving customers on purpose with the exp buff from Aetheryte earrings?

I just purchased the pre-order of Shadowbringers, and after some research I had to find out the proclaimed "30% increased exp" applies only to kill exp, and not to quest completion/leves/daily roulette bonus etc - and yet that limitation is mentioned nowhere on the official Shadowbringers site/SQ shop.

This isn't some mistake by an intern, this is a premeditated deception of customers.

If I'd known that I wouldn't have purchased the pre-order and instead went for the normal version, as the flat 30% bonus exp multiplier was the sole reason for my purchase.

Except it's always been the case with everything regarding EXP bonus in the game. You never get bonus with quests rewards or roulettes, you just get what's given.

It's like when you have a job at max level, so it gives you bonus on your second job. It only works on the monsters you kill. Same thing with the food you eat in game— gives you +3%EXP but only on the mobs.

Same thing here with those equipment.

Irrelevant, what matters is how the item was described during purchase, and there is reads "30% bonus exp" without any limitations.

Do you also use that point of view if you purchase a car/TV/whatever and the item received is different from what you purchased?
I reckon you don't, as it's a breach of contract: something different was delivered compared to what was promised.

It's not irrelevant since that's just how it is, and how it's always been. All EXP bonus items worked and works this way.

They probably could have mentioned it in the item description, yes. But they probably thought everyone knew how the bonuses worked.

I understand you're angry about it, but sadly, I don't think something can be done about it now :c

It is irrelevant if you'd use law 101/common sense:
    - What was promised and what I purchased: Aetheryte earrings with "30% bonus exp" with no limitations
    - What I got: Aetheryte earrings with "30% bonus exp on kills"

What SQ thought is also irrelevant, as the view of the customer is the one that matters, and any customer without any FF14 background expects a "30% bonus exp" without limitations, as that's exactly what the item says in its description.

To be fair you were not promised "no limitations", it doesn't say that anywhere. The wording was not clear but it didn't specify anything when it came to the EXP gain so it was open to interpretation, although yeah granted some new players may think it works on everything when it actually doesn't.

As for in-game exp from leves/quests/daily roulettes,, these have fixed rewards or percentages given (based on level) on completion so they are unaffected by experience multipliers. If they were they would have to be adjusted meaning players without any exp buff could be receiving less than a player who does have one, you know.

Does the pre-order cost more than buying the "normal" release version?
If so, I didn't know, plus you learned something about how exp bonus works.
If not, why does it matter?

    Pre-Order or don't pre-order. Costs the same.
You just got an extra 30% exp to kills IN ROULETTES and IN FATES and IN LEVES. You just don't get bonus exp on the actual completion / turn in.
They've never given buffs for those, and all prior items never indicated as such, and were worded the same way, so not 100% sure why anyone would think this might be different than any other exp buff that is worded this way?

You realize not everyone has been playing this since ARR and maybe just maybe just started. I know it's hard for the Square fanbois to admit, but is misleading and should be reworded for clarification. Either way it's a nice boost for same cost and you get to play xpac a little early.
