    Class selection help

Well I will just start off by stating I am a PS4 player. With that said I have found targeting to be somewhat of a challenge in the game thus far. Since my starting class was an Arcanist, I will be moving into Summoner\Scholar once I get far enough along in the MSQ. What I would like to know is with the targeting challenges I am having which of the two classes will be easier to play in the long run? Also, this is my first MMO that I have not just chosen a Tank class so playing both types DPS\Healer are very foreign to me.

Thank You for any insight you can provide.

What seams to happen is when picking targets from mob I either take forever to cycle to the one I want or even on some occasions end up targeting allies instead of enemies. Probably just need more practice at it (hand eye coordination not what it use to be when I was younger).

Targeting with controller gets much easier if you set up targeting filters. Under Character Configuration -> Control Settings -> Filters, there are two sections, Target Filter Settings, where you can select "Enable Target Cycling", and Filter Customization where you can select "Enable Customization". The first of those will automatically change your filter between two settings whenever you draw or sheathe your weapon. The later will let you change it manually to any of four settings by pressing L1 + one of the four right side buttons of the controller. You should choose one of those two patterns, enable it, and disable the other, (since with both enabled they can interfere with each other).

Personally, I prefer the Filter Customization that gives me four filters and manual control over switching between them. That extra control is especially helpful for healers or those who alternate between multiple jobs so don't always want the same type of targets during combat.

Whichever type of filter switching you choose, you can then set up what you want the filters themselves to include or not include. Each of the two or four filters has a set of checkboxes where you can select what type of targets you want left/right to cycle between, or there are some named presets like "Friends", "Enemies", or "All" to quickly set some of the most popular combinations. (Another advantage of the named presets: your current filter name is shown just above your character's HP Bar. Filters with any of those named presets will display that name. Any other combination of checkboxes will display as "Custom", which can get confusing if you have two or more customized filters.)

Once you set up your targeting filter, your left / right buttons will only cycle through things matching that filter, so for instance, if you've set your targeting filter to "Enemies" mode, then left/right will only cycle between enemies and won't target your allies.

Regardless of those filter settings, up/down cycles through your party list, so is important for healers and anyone using targeted buff skills. And L1 + up/down cycles through your enmity list, which can be particularly useful for tanks, or when a DPS wants to choose their target by lowest or highest remaining HP percentage. Between those two fixed cycles and your configurable target filter cycle on the left/right, getting the right target should be a bit easier.

Thank You.. Looks like I have some customization to do along with some trial and error work to see what works for me.
