Would you run daily challenge dungeons?

I would like to suggest a new type of dungeon content. We currently have daily pvp challenges where one Frontline duty is selected at random and given an extra reward.

My suggestion would be to have a daily dungeon challenge for extra rewards. Since we already have roulettes the challenge dungeon could serve a slightly different purpose. Challenge! You could do it in place of the expert roulette or you could do both.

    Features:
    • One max level dungeon will be selected at random once per day.
    • Players will be synced to minimum item level, but materia would remain effective.
    • Damage taken is increased by 30%. (This could be called Nightmare Echo.)
    • Tome rewards are equal to Expert Roulette.
    • All extra loot specific to the dungeon, such as minions and music, will be a guaranteed drop.
    • Gear drops are the same item level as those from the most recent dungeon and have 5 materia slots.
    • Chests may contain the highest grade materia and rare dyes.
    • An achievement for doing 50 challenge dungeons will reward a glamour set.

Would you participate in dungeon challenges? If so, would you like there to be mechanical changes (like exploding mobs, boss enrages or more ground AoE) or a time limit?

Well, the only reason ‘Daily Challenges’ exists outside of Roulettes is because Frontlines isn’t a Roulette, there’s no randomisation, it’s a fixed instance each day.
That said, I wouldn’t be against ‘hard mode’ dungeons at all, but I don’t think unique loot is a good idea, just additional tomes.

I wouldn't be adverse to extreme dungeons. Drops could be identical to normal version but with more materia slots as suggested.

It's about time we had access to more challenging 4 person content.

I'd check them out. Hell, I'd probably commit to them if they rewarded a unique glamour set, even if the execution isn't quite right.

    Dragoon is love,
    Dragoon is life,
    Dragoon is tanking the floor
    so we don't wipe.

As I said in another thread, I would rather have more difficult 4-man trials than a full dungeon. Also, no to race-against-time whether it's a dungeon or a trial.

Sync'd to the minimum ilv plus having dmg taken increased by 30% leads me to think it'll turn into ilv 49 Wanderer Palace runs from 2.0. Sleep mobs, burst down one to reduce incoming dmg to a reasonable pace.

While I like the idea the daily challenge dungeon I don't think it needs more incentive than the usual expert rewards.

Now, if we're going to setup specific challenging rosters or savage level 4-man dungeons I'd be all for that.

To start, I'd remove all aoe indicators from all mobs in the dungeon but leave them highly telegraphed like that of the in-game cyclops or Giruveganaus. With every mob like this rather than your occasional enemy I feel it'd up the dungeon difficulty on just awareness factor alone. Have environmental hazards, give every mob type a jarring ability (push, pulls, blinds, heavies) and remove set intervals for boss abilities (such as abilities used only at 75% and 50% health).

This keeps you aware of what's happening as it happens rather than planning for hp markers. To add to it, if you want, you could add roaming mini bosses, or primals, or wanted targets that if killed drops treasure chests, gives tokens or improves completion rewards.

No speed running or race against the clock mechanics and I'm down. I love deep dungeon type content. I love small group content with a burning passion. On the other end, I hate speed running and everything to do with it. Give me extra mechanics with tight windows of execution, keep timers, clocks, and speed runs on the opposite side of the universe. Or more preferably in a different dimension.

I'd be open to trying this. It'll beat doing level 70 dungeons with a FC party using only our base classes :P

Yes. I'd prefer the system which might include this sort of content be more than just "daily challenges", but yes.

I generally quite enjoy dungeon running whenever my team is roughly competent, and a daily challenge would make that quite a bit more likely than "Level 70 roulette (which we for whatever reason call... Expert Roulette?)".

As for the added mechanic, it depends. Some add more constraints to available strategies, and the complexity within said strategies, than they force or encourage new strategies or decision-making. If made well, yes. If made okay, yes. If made poorly, no.

Yes, this actually sounds like a really well-sorted implementation of this idea. Definitely would like more mechanics too, ones that actually hurt if you mess them up. Also interruptible skills that make a significant difference, such as having a mob cast something that gives all other mobs a sufficiently large damage-up such that if you don't stop it, you have to mitigate hard.
