Searching for Friend

I have the game on PC from the SE Store. My friend purchased his copy on Steam. We are on the same world on the same datacenter but I cannot find him when I search. I was able to find another friend that was on PS4. Why can I not locate the steam player?

Are you logged in at the same time? If they're not online when you search their name won't appear.

Adding to the above, you also need to NOT be in dungeons/instances, doing so removes you from the character search.

But the easiest thing to do is probably just coordinate a place to meet, i.e. Gridania main aetheryte at 10.30am etc.

just add you has friends, just do it while standing in one of the major cieties, e.g. gridania, uldah or limsa.

I have tried. We were new characters, just different cities. Not doing any dungeons or anything.
