    Prudent Touch

I recently came back to the game after skipping entire SB expansion due to real life situation, I used to be an Omni-Crafter in Heavenwards and really enjoy some of the challenging recipes back them.

I'm in the process of leveling all classes from 60-80 (already max Gatherers), at 66 I just learn the skill "Prudent Touch".....I'm just completely speechless of how stupid this skill is, its completely broken for what it does, 100% quality success rate increase under steady hand II while also halfing durability cost? seriously? please tell me there are some insane level of difficulty recipes because just by this one skill alone I think it makes crafting extremely too easy.

There were some very hard recipies in stormblood but they got nerfed and in current expansion crafting has become entirely too easy

SB crafting was easier than HW crafting, largely because of abilities like that.

If you think Prudent Touch is too much, just wait until you see Preparatory Touch.

Wait until you see how overpowered Delicate touch is with good stats, 5 of them under ing 1 builds any craft to within finishing range including 1 star. I actually only need 4 now for below 80.

Unfortunately Square-Enix stopped listening to their original crafters, and started listening to their new “casual” crafters that don’t put nearly as much time into crafting as the former. The difficulty is gone. And for anyone who likes to bring up the same redundant argument: “RNG =/= difficult” then ask yourself why raiders and EX primal farmers find drops “hard” to get. It’s because of RNG. It adds value to items in any game. Either RNG or a specialized system that makes things extremely thought intuitive.

Anyways, it does suck a lot. And if you’re expecting a challenge anytime soon, it won’t happen. The only thing we can do is speak up about this and maybe get Yoshida to address this in a future Live Letter. He might make it difficult again.

Yeah, Prudent Touch turned the whole crafting system in to a big joke. Everything is ridiculously easy now.

I do not see how the argument claiming 'RNG =/= difficult' is redundant. Plus, crafting has never been difficult.. Looking back to when you were new to crafting with rose tinted glasses can be misleading. DoL/H teaches discipline and in the end rewards you with QoL access in game (repair/meld your own gear, craft/gather new raid starter gear/consumables, craft/gather for playing the market board game, etc).

I think arguing that 'crafting becoming easy is not a fun direction to take the gameplay' would be a better angle to take in this discussion.

Fair enough. If not RNG, they should definitely add in a special system to crafting. Maybe overhaul it. For example, you can only perform “Touch” actions 6-7 times per craft on endgame recipes, but make lower level recipes easier. End game recipes for example, should not be as easy as it is now.

Maybe they can come up with a system where a random effect/stipulation will be applied after your first action:
    - Disable certain actions
    - Making certain actions more potent
    - Make certain actions have a reduced effect
    - Return some ingredients

It could also be opt-in instead of forcing everyone into hard mode crafting. Open up with a hypothetical action "Professional Preparation" and you are locked into a puzzle that will reward you in some way (2x yield, return some mats, materia gain, rare crafting food with great stats, scrips, etc).

TBH, I miss being able to craft the unique job glamours. Adding a way to earn the visuals would be nice.
