    High ping constantly

So I recently starting to get a really high ping in-game and I couldn't figure out what is the problem. I've tried other online games and the pings were fine. The ping usually goes up to 900 and it won't get down to normal, anyone else might have the same issue? Is it me or it's just the server is a bit unstable recently?

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

When did this start happening? Do you recall anything updating/changing on your PC that coincides with this?

If you were to log into a character on a different Data Center, do you get the same results?

Do you notice any patterns to it? Does it only happen during a certain time of day or only in certain areas?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Hi, it started this Monday and I updated my Windows system. It happened on both NA data centers and it usually occurs the moment I log in and then randomly after. I have two 5 GHz bands and I got high ping on both, switching between bands will fix the issue sometimes but will still getting higher ping later.

Thank you for the reply Vojxx.

Generally, issues with latency will come from either an unstable wireless connection or a routing issue on your way to the server. Are you using a wired or wireless connection?

Just to make sure we looked into everything with your router and PC, I'd suggest trying some of the following:

    1) Reset your router by turning it off for a few minutes and then back on.

    2) Make sure your anti-virus/firewall has the appropriate exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV.

    3) Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that they have been opened:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040
Your ISP can open these ports for you.

    4) The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

    Thank you for the reply,

Jojxx, please try contacting your ISP. They may be able to provide more of an insight as to any further suggestions to resolve any concerns you are experiencing.

    Hope to see you online!
