Question about Early Access and Stormblood

Hello,

One of my friends is coming back to the game for expansion and pre-ordered Shadowbringers for early access. There looks to be a problem, however, because he recently got a PC and wants to play on that instead of his PS4.

I know that you have to purchase the license for each specific platform. In this case he purchased the ShB pre-order for PC and linked the early access code it to his account. Problem seems to be that purchasing the pre-order does not grant immediate access to previous expansion content, which accordingly mean that it looks like he will not actually be able to participate in early access.

I'm just curious to see if there is any resolution for this problem (or maybe it's not a problem). Again, he's pre-ordered the ShB (which includes previous expansions) but since the early access code only grants ShB early access - and not access to current/previous expansions - it appears that he won't be able to log in on PC until he gets the full code which grants access the previous expansions for his PC account. (he only has them on PS4 for now)

Goofy situation. Thoughts appreciated.

it's clearly stated that access to the previous expansions will not be available until launch. no way around it. just tell him to play on ps4 until launch. is that so hard?

Uhmm.. Not a matter of what's hard or easy. He pre-ordered the expac for PC, not ps4, which means no early access for his ps4 version. But thanks for trying?

While the previous reply may have been a bit...sarcastic?...What he said is pretty much accurate. There's really no way around it. Unfortunately your friend will just have to stick with PS4 until launch day.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding the situation, but does your friend have the base game (ARR) on PC yet? If so, he should be able to log in on PC and play up until he reaches the HW wall. Alternatively, he could play on PS4 beyond that until launch day and then switch over to PC. My understanding is that ShB does not include the base game, only the HW and SB expansions, so the base game needs to be purchased again for PC. If I'm wrong about that, someone please correct me.

As for early access, I have no idea if HW and SB will become accessible at that point for those who don't have them yet but have a pre-order of ShB. I would hope so, but that's something we won't find out until the time comes (unless a mod wants to step in with a response).

Perhaps my question was too ambiguous or wordy. What I was trying to gather is, upon Early Access, would he actually be able to play? It does indeed appear that he will not, but was hoping for some clarification in that regard. (Yes, he has ARR & HW for PC, just not Stormblood)

To be granted early access and play the new contents from FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers, users need to be playing FINAL FANTASY XIV: Stormblood and have completed certain quests.

Heavensward is free right now so if your friend downloads that for pc then he will be able to play to the end of HW and then go into stormblood when early access starts
