Request to Enable Hidden Thread Rating System

I would like to request that the option to rate each thread be enabled. I discovered this system is already in place- unsure about it's development stage though.

*Enable threads to be voted up or down
*Option to sort threads according to their rating

The following is copy/paste of a few lines of this forum to show this hidden system:

Karma system doesnt work - never did. People will vote up the posters who share their opinion and not who has good quality posts.

Rating is basically the same.

While I appreciate you taking the time to share your view about users policing "bad" posts through karma, this thread is in regard to the rating system currently existing on these forums.

If you do not wish for it to function I respect that. However, I would like to see its effects enabled to add another informative layer for users.

Anything karma-related in an official forum is never going to work well.

People are not judging posts objectively. If they disagree with something, they will rate it down regardless of how well-written and thought-out the post was. This effectively means that opinions that the majority of posters do not agree with are going to be rated down, regardless of their informative value.

I think that in a forum environment, every opinion should stand on an equal ground, and if someone doesn't agree with an opinion, they should come out and explain why that is, instead of simply hiding behind a karma system and rate down the poster.

Therefore, please Square-Enix, let every opinion stand an equal chance of being expressed.

The only information you will get will be: how many people (dis-)agree with the post?

And that sir, is a fact. You don't even need to test it because there is already a forum that uses a "rating" system, and it doesnt work, at all.

PS: I don't want to see this on the forum, because it will be the downfall of it...

There's already a rating feature that does work.

# Replies: 331
# Views: 8,686

Tells me that lots of people are interested in man'qote.

# Replies: 0
# Views: 32

Tells me that no one cares about how other people imagine their character in the game.

Seems pretty effective, too.

EDIT: In fact, you can even sort by either replies, or views, ascending or descending.

Hey all,

Relevant to the above, one of the new features we're looking into implementing will allow everyone to "like" individual threads.

A "like" button will be implemented for each post. You will be able to click the "like" button, once per post, and the total will be displayed. You can also "unlike" a post that you've "liked", should you mistakenly click the button. We feel this is a good alternative to the typical ranking or karma system.

This will also hopefully assist us in accumulating the best and most constructive feedback for the developers.

Either way, it's better than a negative karma system for sure.
