Just dps for every trial, and raid that comes along. Because that's what my experience in this game has been for the past freaking month. Healers that only want to dps and not help out with any of the healing. Which means I have to do all the healing, or the group wipes. It's alright if we wipe continually? Right guys? Just want to get this on record. The healing community supports wiping groups, because everybody wants to prioritize dpsing over healing. I'm not saying you can't dps. I'm just saying you need to throw up some heals too... Literally ANY heals would be a help...

All I'm asking for is a little help. Ya know? Throw up a regen every now and then. I don't think this is too much to ask for. This community makes me want to quit healing. Although, I have been considering not healing dead weight healers. So I might actually start doing this. Considering how this community is acting... I hope SHB is a wake up call. At least white mages will be forced to throw up three heals before they can use their big dps nuke. That's three more heals than I'm getting now. So I guess that's a step in the right direction...
It feels like you didn't read what anyone said and instead you're acting like a child.

One thing you should accept is that the majority of people in casual duty finder content don't care. They want to get their weekly tomes/loot and be done with it.
Acting like healer is this massively complicated job where you "need to know everything" says alot about your knowledge. Yes, healers are important but the majority of people can heal casual content without issues.

And I'll say it again, if my co-healer is spamming heals I'll let them heal instead of wasting mana on overhealing. It's all about reading your co-healer.

But considering how many people seem to want healers to focus healing I told myself that if I was to ever run content as healer (aiming for only healing for my static) then I'll only heal and throw the occasional stone and a holy per pull. If they complain I'll just say "Sorry, Yoshi P and the community want me to focus healing so please stop talking now so i won't let you drop under 90% HP...also..I'm out of mana"

First off, I just want to say that I appreciate all the well worded/reasoned responses to this. All of you have wonderfully covered anything I could add.

So instead, I’m gonna talk about the word “toxic.”

Personally, I’m tired of hearing it.

This community is not “toxic.” If you want to experience a truly toxic fanbase, go hang out with Star Wars fans or, more recently, the Harry Potter subreddit. THAT is a toxic fanbase.

This word is being tossed out so quickly these days that it’s become the new boy who cried wolf. Do you really want to be that person?

When a community is truly toxic, you’ll know it.

So please, Esuna that nonsense because we’re not here for it.

Can I afford to go on a tangent for a second? All the topics brought up here aside, how awesome is it when you actually do get to solo heal in DF? I mean it's not like the "optimization" aspect of things is any fun because you're constantly backtracking on your efforts in order to save people's screw ups, so solo healing actually makes things really entertaining.

You must have the worst luck imaginable if you're constantly paired up with healers that won't heal. I run in DF all the time and always get fantastic healers that know how to balance both healing and DPS. When I don't, it's because they err on the side of healing more than necessary while not DPSing.

I'm gonna guess what's ACTUALLY happening is you're freaking out and throwing out cures the instant anyone drops below 100%, while everyone else is waiting for them to drop to more 60% where their heal won't massively overheal before healing.

(Also, psst: If you weren't spamming single target heals on all the other parties in the alliance, guess what? The healers in the other parties were healing!)

The math is just against you. When you start to optimize healing (heal with as few gcds as possible with enough hp to survive what is coming, just so you understand) then you end up with enormous downtime, what are you going to do then? Just sit around twiddling your thumbs waiting for that surprise tankbuster or surprise aoe? Or maybe throw some damage GCDs? If you don't know what this downtime is, you are healing ineffectively, might want to look into it.

This, among many other problems, can be fixed by following the two golden rules:
    1) Be good
    2) Don't be bad
    That is all.

Idk personally I’ve been paired with healers from every side of the spectrum and I wouldn’t say one ‘kind’ outnumbers the other.

Also, as an aside, i like keeping the party at full HP lol. I’m one of those disgusting scum healers that uses Cure/Lustrate/Benefic on a party member as soon they take enough damage for the spell to not cause obscene overhealing lol. Though it’s not like I’m actively trying to avoid dpsing lol, I still fill every possible free GCD with Broil II because I have this anxiety that if someone catches me not max’ing dps they’ll chastise me or start insulting me (“healer has low DPS they must be shit” etc)

I've never had an experience in FFXIV -in an alliance raid- where I felt the co-healer wasn't healing enough... The sad reality is that you don't even need to GCD heal in Alliance Raids. Literally everything can be covered by OGCDs.

Seconding some of what other people have said. Record or log the fights. I have a strong gut feeling that either you're wasting your free heals, are uncomfortable with healing, or you're just being paired with a bad (not DPS hungry) healer.

Meanwhile I'm excitedly waiting for my co-healer to kick the bucket in normal 8-mans and 24-mans so that I get to solo heal, making the umpteenth run of whatever it is I'm running more interesting. :V
