Actually, now that I think about it, I also agree that FFVIII crossover is unlikely to happen because the Eden Raid series is already a thing. That's already more than enough to build awareness for the Remaster. They might even cook the fan service into the raid drops the way they did Return to Ivalice, with certain gear sets either inspired by or being a "one-to-one" of FFVIII characters. Like the Tank set could be Seifer's outfit (cuz GNB).

I can see that happening if they put effort into being FF14 X FF14 1.0 Event where they remaster the entire 1.0 storyline into current 5.0 update content for a limited time for about 1 month long event so players can experience the entire 1.0 storyline in 5.0.

The rewards for the FF14 1.0 event can be the 1.0 WoL starting outfit.
