Hairstyle Concerns for The New Races

So I noticed potentially alarming things about hairstyles on both races in the ShB benchmark character creator for viera and hrothgar.

Hrothgar:

Hairstyles are tied to face types. Not only does this mean that there is very little choice, does this mean we would need to use a fantasia to change hair?

I understand how hrothgar have a pretty different head shape so maybe some current hairstyles won't work...but did the given styles really need to be tied to face types?

Hairstyles are not tied to face types and there is more choice than hrothgar, but still very little compared to the current races.

Viera's head shape isn't much different to any existing races so I'm puzzled by the hair style limitations. The ears would get in the way for some of the current ones, but most would be fine.

In the cases of both races, does this mean extra hairstyles, such as those from potd or mog station outfits, will be unusable?

We need clarification on all of this.

EDIT: I'd be okay with all of this if the intention is to open up more hairstyles as time passes. Creating new races takes a lot of time. I get it. But if the intention is to leave everything as is then I'll be intensely disappointed.

Since Hrothgar have hairstyles tied to their character creation options rather than being separately selectable, you will not be able to apply unlockable hairstyles, but they might implement more face types after 5.0. As for Viera, there's some legacy haristyles they'll able to eventually implement, but not all of them. Some of unlockable hairstyles should be supported, others may not be.

There it is. Confirmation that we're getting limited races, especially in the case of hrothgar. This is so disheartening.

I'm not too worried about viera. Like you said, viera's head shape isn't much different than any of the other races. I believe we'll have a variety of hairstyles for viera. It's hrothgar I'm worried about.

My guess is lack of time on both fronts. We already know that Hrothgar were under a time crunch even as far back as their reveal, only being media ready the day before the show at the Japanese Fanfest - and that the dev's previously thought they wouldn't be able to attach headgear to either race. It was explained to be a technical difficulty but honestly speaking I imagine it was likely a time based one given the fact that developers were able to crunch on their own time to get a good swath of headpieces to work out of the gate.

I think the real test for me will be whether or not the buyable hairstyles are available once the expac drops. Stuff like the Lightning hair didn't show up in the Benchmark regardless of race, so it's hard to say if Viera or Hrothgar are 100% limited or if they'll have at least some extra options come patch day. Either way while I love SE a lot for trying to give us two races, I very much think they bit off WAY too much.

And I understand that concern. I'm just trying to inject some optimism into an issue that's also bothering me. If we really can only use the racial hairstyles and we don't get drip fed the others over the course of the expansion's patch cycle I'm going to be rather put out honestly.

Maybe its the same situation like with au ru and their horns

The Viera only have 1 more hair style than the Hrothgar (All their hairstyles are "THIS and THIS again but with bangs and highlight changes" which puts them at really only 9 unique styles compared to Hrothgar "2 for each face")

Which ever way they go I figure it's a packaged deal. If we're getting all the shared hair for Viera then Hrothgar will get them to, just like with the head gear.

This is something they're probably still working on. I expect they'll probably prioritize the paid hairstyles from the mogstation, but as others have said, these probably wouldn't be in the benchmark anyway.

Why would Viera not have all the hairstyles of other races? Seems very unlikely to me they wouldn't. Relative to Hrothgar that's a harder call given the huge differences in body/face styles but I suspect they'll have a full range of styles as well. Perhaps they'll address the questions in a live letter or we'll see something more relative to the game at E3 where I think playable versions of the game might be available for gamers there.
