Requesting help with chocobo colour

I have no idea where to put this but I need help with my chocobo colour.

I been following the chocobo colour calculator from Desert Yellow to get Chocolate Brown, but each attempt I don't get it.

I'm currently at Bark Brown and I have no idea what I need to feed my chocobo to get Chocolate Brown, and I don't understand micro feeding either.

Can anyone help me with this please?

Also remember that now that your chocobo is a different color the amount and feed order is going to be different as you'll want directions to go from bark brown to chocolate brown.

As others said, you'll have to watch the feeding order to have the best chance of ending up with your preferred color.

I used a calculator, watched feeding order and got my Mesa Red on my first try. My sister, however, used the same calculator, watched feeding order and got the wrong color TWICE. Turns out there's a tiny bit of RNG involved. She got her Orchard Brown on the third try.

I would say continue to use the calculator and just change the "from color/starting color" if you keep getting unlucky. You should get there eventually!

I imagine someone who worked on FFXI made that lol, feels very unknown, time present, and focused on the nature and vagueness of things vs a science with hair dye.

Though if you have a garden you can save some money by buying the seeds from the guy near your GC that stands next to the hunt board, can get seals pretty easily by Blue Mage and so depending on how fast you want it the cash sink can be relatively nil. Time part doesn't bother me much (could be made longer), but it would be nice if the experience was made a bit more reliable somehow. Though time probably doesn't bother me since I have some nostoglia of feeding my chocobo for ~4+ hours in FFXI and that suffering turned into a sweet memory lol.

It's not an exact science, the colour strength of the food seems to be slightly random. Sometimes the feeding will get you the colour straight away, other times it will just get you close or go a little too far and you will have to continue to adkust until you get there. Just keep trying.
