To OP:
I've given a rundown/overview on my youtube channel for every major update since the game came out.

Check it out and decide from there. I suggest you watch them from oldest to newest for obvious reasons.

Very cool of you. Thanks a lot
same as beta with a few minor improvements like a slightly faster UI.Played the Beta and for 2 months after its release but I haven't played since as I found the game repetitive and slow.
Being a general Final Fantasy fan and a fan of mmo's (played FF11, WoW and GW since there release dates) I want to give this game another shot.
Before I re-install it can anyone give me a run down of major changes.
Thanks
if you are absolutely bored it's worth re-visiting for a couple hours.
The game has made massive improvement on functionality, but content wise very little has been added since release. 5 World NMS, 3 faction bosses, some new style leves, and some quest which give you gear for the rank that is quest is for.
In a month or 2 (maby disaster in Japan sorta delayed everything) we will be getting a whole new battle system. As others have said read the update list of what is being added it is pretty substantial.
IF you absolutely hated it before because you where bored of lack of content you will quickly quit again, if you quit because of game play issues like lag, problems buying and selling items, and stuff there is a good chance the game has been fixed for you.
As others have said, it's still free to play right now so you can mess around with no cost. And who knows, if you stick into it enough you'll have a heads up when the juicy content comes (or PS3 launch) or even spend time with another character if you feel like experimenting.
Game still does have it's pros and cons. It's easier to level to an extent and the most recent update made a big fix to the gear durability system, but the fatigue system is still in place and you may hit walls and not feel like you can do anything for a while when that happens.
Leves, story quests, and the new side quest system still makes up for the majority of the game content. The side quests are straight forward and depending on where you are, may or may not provide you with gear you'll find useful.
The game has made vast improvements over the past months. It's not perfect, but in time it'll really shine. There's nothing to lose with coming back, so you might as well reinstall and hop on when you get bored.
