I undercut to sell fast. I don't sell for less than the npc buying price though.

People want things, and more likely than not are willing to pay whatever the top-listed price is. I aim to be that person as much as possible.

Dragoon is love,
Dragoon is life,
Dragoon is tanking the floor
so we don't wipe.
If and when I do it is completely out of spite. I'll post things up for sale with no items listed at a fair price. Then an hr later it's got like 10 listings that's like 100k under me.. mind you the item in question sales. I wait about 2 weeks just price matching. Then I say f it. Start cutting prices by 100k. I favor my inventory space more than gil at this point lol.
I undercut because I'm petty. I match lowest price, they undercut by 10 gil or so, so I tank the item by up to hundreds of thousands. No skin off my back.
I never undercut, i put low quantities for higher price.
Its way more efficient.
I usually undercut by 1 gil off whatever the lowest price was when I put the thing up and leave it for about a week. If it doesn't sell by then and the price has crashed to a fraction of the original value, I just accept it's not even worth fighting the undercutting war anymore, I don't have the patience to constantly monitor the market and adjust my prices. I'd rather focus on selling something else in the meantime and wait for the price of whatever failed to sell to stabilise before trying again.

I never undercut and don't buy from people who undercut of like, nothing. If you want to undercut, you need to give at least 5-10% of undercut on the price, if it's something stupid like 1 gil, I skip those person so they don't sell fast. I sometime had people whispering me to ask why I was not buying from them and taking from people who were selling for more, and everytime it happens I'm a bit happy to see someone got pissed because they were thinking to sell fast and are not in the end. I always said, have guts to undercut, or just put the same price than the cheapest one.
If I am selling something sometimes I just want my money quick. Even if I take a minor hit.No, this is not a complaint thread.
Everyone undercuts. But can anyone answer this for me? : Are you undercutting out of spite of “elitist” crafters....or do you do it to genuinely bring the price down so everyone can afford it?
By everyone’s definition, I’m a “elitist” crafter but I also enjoy bringing down prices for people to enjoy. What about you?
No big conspiracy.

Because I craft and gather A LOT so my goods sitting on the MB cause me to lose money. I strive for sales on the MB everyday.
I undercut because people ask why I undercut.
