My list of things to sell is almost always longer than the amount of slots I have with which to sell things. So I undercut by 1 gil unless the lowest price is something I can flip for a profit.

For the longest time I tried to be a "fair" seller, and just match lowest, only to watch someone else undercut by 1 gil and sell while I'm dying to reduce my load. So I've learned, and I continuously undercut by 1 gil. Sometimes I get someone that gets so upset that they drop their price by 50%... great, I buy their item, and sell them both at profit instead.

And for the items that are driven so low in price that it's not worth selling... I buy the whole lot of underpriced goods, desynth them, and sell the mats (and Fieldcrafts/Battlecrafts) for way more than the source items were, which puts me back at square one in terms of having too many things to sell and not enough slots for it.

I am always making money from the market in this game, with very little effort. 1 gil undercut just keeps that process moving as smoothly as possible.

Everyone undercuts. But can anyone answer this for me? : Are you undercutting out of spite of “elitist” crafters....or do you do it to genuinely bring the price down so everyone can afford it?

By everyone’s definition, I’m a “elitist” crafter but I also enjoy bringing down prices for people to enjoy. What about you?
I do it because my retainers are full of stuff and I want to move product rather than it sitting their for days. And yeah sometimes items are way over priced for what they are, how easy mats are to get and how easy they are to synth

The price people set on easily obtainable items, is ridiculous.
By their logic, i should charge for advice in novice network, or helping ppl through unsynced primal nm, because it took a long time to cap all my dow/m
So i undercut by 50% minimum, cause items simply are not worth that much.
Its so funny when ppl charge a premium for HQ glam items, when HQ does absolutely nothing - it's a glam item!
Easily obtained items, should be affordable, period.
I mean, you go to a node outside crystarium, gather 15 items, sell them for 100k each=profit, cause you're a gatherer?
Can i charge 100k for joining an ex run?
Apparently doh/l are entitled to all the gil in the game, cause they are so special for reaching lv cap; it's oh so difficult, took sooo long, and was SOOO expensive!! (even though it's free unless you're lazy, and in a hurry)

So, out of spite, and to make it affordable - my trash is someone else treasure, i don't care about the trash or the gil.

I see the same thing with house building mats, like sand. I sell it all at the same price.

This thread truly amazes me, having come from (among many other MMOs) EvE where the idea of complaining that people trying to sell on the same market as you aren't going to conspire to fix prices in a way that benefits you more than them would be insane. People undercut because they... want their items to sell? If they 1 gil ya, it just means they are on top of the list, a reward for actively managing prices. Big undercuts are about moving fast, and if you are canny you just buy em yourself to sell em.

No other reason for me than to sell something FAST. Otherwise I am good leaving something up for days. Unless they undercut by 1 cent then I drop it 5k+ for spite. Jk but not sorry that is funny.

Inventory Cleaning > Inventory Cleaning > hoping for quick sells because the retainers are selling 20 things > destroying a market if people step on my cookie.

Usually I don't undercut that often, because many people still will buy my stuff for higher prices. Also I've noticed that some people usually pay higher prices and ignore the undercutters offer.

How did you came up with a conclusion like that ?!? Buyers always by the cheapest item, so by undercutting even by a few hundreds gil you make sure your item will sell first. Most players just want to trade their useless item for money asap, they aren't trying to help the poors or spite elitist (lol), for them the economy aspect of mmo is secondary. I mean it's obvious, I was doing undercutting on wow when I was 12, for an elitist you have little understanding of very basic economy.
