Buy limit is restricted to every item. From 3rd Age Amulet (8 per 4 hours) to Revenant ether (30,000 per 4 hours).
All in all it's a competitor's market. You're competing against others to provide a product at a reasonable price. If you're selling a hot commodity then it will sell no matter how many times someone undercuts you, but if the market for that item dries up or becomes less lucrative due to flooding then pack it up and move to another commodity. I had a decent market selling the Tāne-Mahuta WHM cane for 100k and I sold at least one a week, but when it became obvious that I wasn't going to be able to continue at that price I stopped making them and moved on.

Okay my bad, I guess I never encountered the limit in my time playing, probably due to not being that much of a heavy GE user at the time. I read up on it a bit now since you mentioned it, and apparently its to stop too much manipulation of prices that could adversely effect other players.
This sounds terrible. Things are perfectly fine as they are other than maybe some of the UI but without a total rework nothing like that is going to change. Free Market works and makes plenty of people gil. I check my prices 3 or 4 times a day and leave it at that. Things sell and sometimes others get sales. It's OKAY. I'll either get my sold eventually or wait for a better time.
I agree with you, but is there anything you could suggest, in all your experience in the selling and buying on the MB to add/enhance? Or are you truly okay with it and find it flawless? It could be anything, at all. This sounds terrible. Things are perfectly fine as they are other than maybe some of the UI but without a total rework nothing like that is going to change. I love posters who make suggestions open to feedback and literally attack anyone who disagrees. Good job OP, people are really going to take you seriously when you come in and call what they're saying "dumb kupo-poop". /thumbsup
The Retainer system is probably the biggest annoyance. On WoW I could just go to one page and find all my sales and deal with it.. I don't recall being able to just adjust I think I had to pull it off completely and repost.. It's been so many years though so I don't really remember. I played star trek online and its exchange was/is god awful. So I guess overall I'm just glad it isn't anymore annoying that it is. When you have tons of retainers that can certainly get to be time consuming and if I had more than 3 I probably would not keep up on my sales as often. Unfortunately a question was asked of Yoshi regarding retainers and the answer was not promising.
In Runescape, you can do this too. Its just easier to "set it" and "forget it" automatically, on average price. It you really want to sell level 70 gear for 10 gil or level 10 gear for several million, you still can. There difference here is that you do not see the listings. You see the average. This way you don't feel pressured to make it cheaper. Even in Runescape people can sell cheaper to sell faster, though. To me it feels like prices fluctuate much less there. When prices go down/up, they go very slowly compared to FFXIV. The market there is by far my favorite.Look at the last item in most things, tell me when you come accross that 99mil item on the MB. I'll wait. Even still you missed the point. The point is the MB being player controlled is the best form for it. If I want to I can go and price the shiver emote at what I think is a reasonable price and not the 10 plus million it is at now. That was my point. Either or the MB is fine as it is. Keep it player controlled. no need for it to be changed cause a few people can be morons or greedy mc ducks.
Edit: Another thing that I should mention about the GTS/GE is that when people DO undercut. Nobody sees it except the seller. Sure you can put your "buy" option for a lower than average price and maybe get stuff that has been undercut, but so few people do so that it really doesnt affect the average much.
When I sell things on the MB in XIV, (Things like ingots. ores, it doesnt even matter what really) I always get undercut by stupid amounts. I could sell materia VI for 1-10k and the next day its still there because somebody is selling hundreds at 700. Undercutting generally hurts multiple people. Because now we either sell so cheap that it isnt worth it anymore, or we give up and look for another market, thats probably going to be crashed like this by the overly wealthy trolls who dont want anyone else to have it. I have literally heard a few players with max gil laugh and say that they ruin markets just to lock others out. "What else are they going to do with max gil and all of this bordem." How is a new crafter supposed to combat people like this? In the GTS/GE you dont have to.

Oh Definitely, I dont have additional retainers for sure. Im not condemning anyone that does either since its a liability purchase. Would you rather than retainers being so convoluted, it might be better to have everything rooted to a single seller? The Retainer system is probably the biggest annoyance. That makes a lot of sense, in a way to me, but a little less for anonymity sake when selling...hmmm
Also: This is an edit, my original question was super dumb.
