While I'm not totally sold on the idea of a blind-auction system (I'm thinking like XI), I do really like having the option to have buy-orders and purchasing partial stacks. I think the latter two items would make the AH loads better by themselves.

I mentioned this in that other thread where my comment got deleted (really not sure why), but I also think having a listing fee would help with the problem of undercutting. As it is now, people can change prices every 10 seconds if they wanted to with absolutely no penalty. Add a listing fee to place the item, and any time you want to adjust the price, and the 1gil undercutting wars may slow down a bit.

In terms of buying partial stacks, I'd be ok if a few rules are enforced:

    1. First in to be listed for sale, first out to be bought.
    2. Unbought items in the stack remain in the marketbord to be sold in the same order.

    Conditional third rule:

3a. If prices are dictated by system so they stay constant, no other rule needed.

    or

3b. If prices are dictated by player, then no relisting more than once every 24 hours and additional rule is added to Rule #1 so items are additionally bought from low to high unless an item hasn't sold for 48 hours, in which case they get priority. Original rule for #1 still applies for items at same price.

    and

4b. Given Rule #3b, would-be purchasers are only given the price for the item in first place on the purchase order, dictated by the other 3 rules.

If anyone here has played Old School Runescape and used the Grand Exchange you can see exactly what I am talking about. You can put up sell or buy offers for items and each item has an average market value. However you cannot see all the listings and their exact amounts, because of this, you don't have people undercutting each other by exactly 1 or 2 gil. Players are able to put up buy offers for a certain price, given the average market value of the item you can choose to go up or down 5% as many times as you want or still set the exact price that you are looking to purchase an item for. As a buyer, you automatically receive a purchase that is at or below your offer and are refunded the remainder.

Being able to put up buy offers makes it so that whenever someone puts up a sell offer that meets someone's buy offer, the item often sells instantly as you do not have to wait for someone to decide to come to the market and look for what you are selling as there would likely already many people that have buy offers set up.

As for not showing sell offers explicitly as they are now, this would eliminate scummy undercutting practices, as im sure many of you know if you are engaged in the market, as the only option for undercutting would be to go below a market average amount.

Edit: apparently some of you intelligent people made the assumption that the average would be set by SE. Wrong. False. I never said that. Read again. The market average is determined by whatever people are buying and selling for. I urge you to look at how OSRS's superior grand exchange market system works. Still 100% player driven.
I think with how rampant undercutting bots are this could actually be an attractive option now.

I think they should work on undercutting bots first. Its funny to see 2 ppl using undercutting bots and bring prices of items that normally sells for 224k down to 40k. And the owners of those bots are always online and in their apartments too xD.
