I stopped reading when the OP started calling people “dumb”, “morons”, and insinuating that posters who disagreed with her were somehow less intelligent.

Word of advice to you, OP: next time you want to make a suggestion, why don’t you lay off of the unnecessary attacks and sarcasm? That’s not how you get support or (positive) attention for your suggestion. If anything, it will just make people ignore it entirely.

I'd prefer a market system like GW2 where everything of the same price is bundled together, you buying 1 just takes 1 out of that stock (from whatever is the oldest listing), and items have AN ACTUAL NPC SELL PRICE VALUE which you can't go below or equal to. Meaning something like an Elixir would sell for 1K, but you couldn't sell it for 1K or less on the market, you could only sell it for 1,001 or higher.

Two threads of people crying over undercutting? wtf. Get the F over it. It's the free market and people are going to do whatever the flying flip they want.. But it's cute trying to get the devs to rig the marketboard for your own personal gain...

I personally would like to have an option to place "orders" with saving possibility to post "offers". Sometimes you need 5 items, and you are actually even okay with prices, but ALL sellers placed 99x stacks, and in result you wait like a dog when there finally will be somebody who will place suiting offer. At least give us possibility to buy just a part from stack... please.

Not sure about fixed/semi-fixed prices though. I am not against of it as an idea and even played games where it was a thing and it was very good both from seller and buyer experience. You always knew in advance how much you will pay or how much you will get, this stability is pleasant to have. Situations when you spent tones for hours for getting mats/craft only to find out that in last hour price dropped and now you can sell it for 10 Gil instead of 1000 didn't exist there. But I have feeling that a lot of sellers will be strictly against (especially those who used to sell Fashion Report items with 100-500x prices in comparison to their prices outside of report).

The current system is fun though, undercutting wars are always fun. "Want to undercut me by 1 gil, let us see who has the deeper pockets."

Except for when you're dealing with bots that will automatically undercut you within five minutes regardless of when/how often you decide to undercut them.

I've seen it on Cactuar. There are three different level 22 players in the same FC as an omnicraft bot, one situated in each of the three primary city-states. They basically log on and off in an endless cycle checking their retainers and undercutting if they detect someone selling at a lower price.

So basically a 2 way system on the marketboard where you can instantly buy (as it is now) and instantly sell to another player at a price/quantity that they dictate?

I wouldn't be against it, players can choose whether or not to sell to these players, they get an instant sale, the buyer gets their item instantly. If you don't like the buy offer, you can sell at a higher price and a quantity you like.

Would this not theoretically just do the opposite to undercutting though? People posting buy offers by 1gil higher so they buy everything first? You would also maybe need a cap on the number of postings active per account, because what would stop me posting 1000 buy offers and not giving anyone a chance to have their name on the buyers market? Being wary of advertising other games, but I suppose others have done so in this thread so maybe not as voodoo as I'd have thought, but a game called Shop Heroes is a very good example of a buyers and sellers market but I guess that game is literally 95% revolved around it, so it had to be suitable..

Way I see it bots will always be a thing and unlike SE I personally do not wish to have the presence of bots / rmt limit what I find enjoyable. Sure they can be annoying, but that is the nature of beast.

Buy orders are a great idea. We have the wishlist and the stars showing which items people are tracking but it could be a more detailed system. Pretty much everything else about your suggestion is not something I want. I like full visibility and control over my sales and purchases. You have not explained what makes undercutting a scummy practice other than your personal inconvenience of having to actually compete on the market.

I also like being able to bundle bigger amounts for a greatly reduced individual item price to get rid of something quickly, and selling other items in stacks of 1 at a higher price because I know people want those items in smaller quantities. One can also buy a cheap stack and resell it in smaller stacks for profit. All of those strategies would be invalidated if people could buy whatever amounts they like from stacks and I don't want strategic thinking to be removed for no reason.
