With the purpose of using it in negative terms. I could refer to the Japanese in the shorthand and the intent of that would be to belittle them.

If someone was mocking you for being bald then yes it would be a negative, but simply stating that you are indeed bald is not mocking you, it's nowhere near the level as refering to a nationality as a slang term. Unless you consider being bald a slang?
