So I can't glomp you in random dungeons and ask for friends? - Heartbroken-I communicate daily with the people in my FC - either directly ingame or in our Discord-channel. Our casual-static raids two times in a week and in between we do things like maps, ex-primals and the like together.
Thats enough community for me /shrug - I never understood the wish to have conversations with strangers during your dungeon-runs... I want to play a game, not hold smalltalk with people I'll never see again.
Why would you do that? It's a random person you will probably never see again.
Personally I hate it when people try to chat me up when we're in a dungeon. We're there to get the job done and move on and never see each other again, not get friendly.
OP needs some Eurekan potion.
I don't want my story/daily content to be particularly difficult. That will just make them feel like more of a pain to do.
When Weeping City of Mhach was current, I distinctly remember not even wanting to bother to do it for my weekly drop because I knew that the vast majority of groups would get walled at Forgall or Ozma, resulting in huge arguments and ragequits and vote dismissals/abandons. It was a pain in the ass to do, so I usually just stopped bothering. And that wasn't even ex/savage content.
There's enough challenging things in the game for people looking for a challenge. In fact, if anything I feel there's too much dev emphasis placed on it, to the point where it's been detrimental to the more casual crowd. It's become really prevalent in Stormblood.

You see this all the time from the WoW classic community. They dislike that the challenging content is a harder versions of easy content most players can access.
It's like hard content is only enjoyable to them if other people are excluded from seeing it.
So where was the challenge to this game in the first place, outside of Savage raids?IDK if this will be popular here, but just a quick glance at the front page of general discussion shows how far away from the original idea XIV has gone.
There is virtually no challenge outside of savage raids. There is little community aspect since everything is instanced, and people are far more concerned with minions and mounts that discussing battle startegies, since none is required.
I'm pretty old now I guess. I came up on EQ, played XI for 5 years and started XIV on 1.0. I played XIV now on and off. I resubbed this month with the expansion hype, but leveling my AST I found myself asking why. I mean, healing is no challenge what so ever. I'm mostly spamming my DD spells.
This is just venting, i suppose, but after seeing a lot of WoW refugee threads and videos I couldn't help but thinking XIV is heading in the same direction.
I, myself, will probably buckle and get the expansion, but I will 100% be playing Classic in Aug. and Pantheon whenever that comes out.
TLDR: The challenge is gone and with it the community.
Please don't conflate tedium with challenge, by the way. That seems to be what most people do when making your sort of complaint.
By the way, Vanilla WoW wasn't particularly challenging either outside of getting 40 people to show up on time raid night. We don't know where Pantheon is heading yet. It's too soon to say but I rather suspect it's not going to end up challenging either.
I do not see the baseline of FFXIV being easy as a bad thing as it helps to draw in as many new people as it can and not proceed to beat you up for just trying to do the story. Just look at Wildstar as an example of catering too much to harder content.
However i think they could add more midcore content ie challenging versions of existing dungeons if they ever get a manpower boost or a potential boss rush for glam rewards, but i want to stress this should not come at the cost of the already existing content structure.
As for communication as much as people hate it Eureka actually had a lot of it and not just lfg fate XD it got really active with the introduction of Baldesion Arsenal and new discords were popping up to try to clear it, he community is there it is just a case of finding it or finding something that will bring it out.
Guy butt is best butt <3
If you want a challenge, why don't you do the content at minimum ilvl. Or group up with people and try it below min ilvl (just swap out gear after you get in).
Well one it's mostly a joke... and two.. damn.... I always say hi in dungeons or make a joke or two. Not everything needs to be super serious business.... ouch. I mean we're in a video game.. not at a job.
