Looking to move my FF install (Steam) to an SSD. Steam Mover, or..?

    Hi everybody.
I just installed a brand new 1TB SSD, and want to move FF to it, to help loading times.

First off, anyone here do that? Big difference?

I have a STEAM install, and I now that uninstall/reinstall to the new drive would do it, but.. I really don't want to have to re-download that many gigs upon gigs..

Has anyone else here done this? Someone was telling me that an app, "Steam Mover" is perfect for this but I wanted to throw this out there first.

    Thanks!

You will love playing via SSD. I've even added an external SSD to my Playstation 4. Big difference.

You don't even need to download a separate app if you play FFXIV via Steam; Steam can transfer it over itself. Quick guide:

    1) Go to "Settings" under "Steam" in the Steam app. Select "Downloads" and click on "Steam Library Folders"; this will show you the current folders you have available for placing Steam games. Click "Add Library Folder" and then just use the "New Folder" button to make a new folder in your SSD; label it whatever you want.
    2) Close out of those menus, and go to FFXIV in your Steam Library. Right-click it and select "Properties." Navigate to the "Local Files" tab and click "Move Install Folder." From the dropdown menu, select the new folder you made on the SSD and then click "Move Folder." Steam will automatically move the entire game over to the SSD.
    3) Since I've had issues with this on occasion, once it's done moving it over, click "Verify Integrity of Game Files" in the same tab, just to make sure everything got moved over properly.

And there you go - FFXIV should now be installed on your SSD. Note that I don't use FFXIV through Steam, but I've moved other games in this manner before, so it definitely works, and I do have FFXIV installed on one of my SSDs - the load times are way better than on a hard drive. Enjoy the better loading times!

I put a SSD in my PS4 Pro and it was a night and day difference from the standard ps4 Pro. So If you didnt have a SSD on your PC before then yes it is completely worth it.

I run the game on an SSD on PC.

On HDD: 5-10 second loading screens.

On SSD: Sorry but what is a loading screen?

I took someone's advice and just copied to the SSD and ran the launcher from there.. it worked just fine. Performance s amazing.
How does the expansion work? I have bought it, STeam knows about it, will it try to download to the location STEAM thinks the game is in, or is that all through the launcher, so wherever I run the program from?

OK I used Steam Mover and everything is good.
Moved the files over and ended up creating a symbolic link so Steam THINKS its on my HD but is actually on my new SSD.
Loading times went from about 30 seconds to maybe 3.

    Amazing.
